So [name_u]Clifford[/name_u] is currently top of my list for a boy as an honor name for my maternal grandfather, and while I love the name I was wondering if there were other options people could think of on how to honor a [name_u]Clifford[/name_u] outside of just [name_m]Cliff[/name_m] or [name_m]Ford[/name_m] (I like stretchy nicknames so already plan to use [name_u]Kit[/name_u] instead of either of those options)
Maybe…
[name_u]Cory[/name_u] / [name_u]Corey[/name_u]
[name_f]Cordy[/name_f]
[name_m]Clifton[/name_m]
[name_u]Cleo[/name_u] / [name_f]Clio[/name_f]
[name_m]Cord[/name_m]
I love [name_u]Cleo[/name_u]! I never thought of that one, thanks!
I have a cousin named [name_u]Corey[/name_u] so that one is out
Would it be worth just using [name_u]Clifford[/name_u] if you’re nicknaming to [name_u]Kit[/name_u] anyway? Seems an added step away from [name_u]Clifford[/name_u] if using both a different name and a stretchy nickname? I love [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and think [name_u]Clifford[/name_u] is nice anyway.
Clifford…
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m]
Christoph/Christoff/Kristoff
[name_m]Cleveland[/name_m] (meaning cliff land)
Radclyffe/Radcliff
[name_m]Clive[/name_m]
[name_u]Clyde[/name_u]
[name_m]Colton[/name_m]
[name_f]Cordy[/name_f]
[name_m]Claus[/name_m]
[name_u]Claude[/name_u]
Thats probably the plan anyway (not pregnant at the moment) I was mostly just trying to find if I had missed anything. [name_u]Clifford[/name_u] will either be the first or the middle unless I find some alternative I love more
I was thinking Clifford Christopher nn Kit or just Kit Clifford would be lovely! Or even Clifford Thomas nn Kit.
I think there is only so far you can go before it no longer honours the person. [name_m]Just[/name_m] giving someone a name that starts with ‘C’ seems like it isn’t really honouring. I think [name_m]Ford[/name_m] is nice and modern sounding and still can be an honour name.
Thats fair! Again, I’d probably just use [name_u]Clifford[/name_u] in full, I just really dislike [name_m]Cliff[/name_m] as a nickname and want to avoid it at all costs. [name_m]Ford[/name_m] has grown on me, but I also live in [name_m]Metro[/name_m] [name_m]Detroit[/name_m] so it would be more like naming my kid after a car company in most people’s eyes
Fair enough! I like [name_u]Clifford[/name_u] on its own, too
