How to honor Jeffrey

My dad is [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m] and I’d like to honor him in my next daughters mn. My first daughter is [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and it honored my mil [name_f]Susan[/name_f] and my mom [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. My brother in law is named after my father in law Thomas who also shares his MN with my husband already, which leaves my dad- [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m] who I’d like to be included in the honor fun.

First name short list includes
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] (current favorite)
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariella[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

I’ve seen [name_f]Freya[/name_f] as the closest feminine form. Any other ideas? If big sis is [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] does [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] work? Other option I thought of is to use his MN, [name_m]Victor[/name_m] and have the mn be [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. I’m not totally in love with the flow of either so I could use some insight. Thoughts?

I think that either [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] or [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] would be lovely. Another option might be to just use a name starting in J, or even a name meaning victory in honor of [name_m]Victor[/name_m]. Good luck”

Hmm…maybe [name_f]Effy[/name_f] or [name_u]Rey[/name_u]?

I think [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is an interesting way to honor [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m] and I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] works with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] even if it’s a tad more offbeat than classic. They definitely feel like sisters to me.

Other names I think could work to honor [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m] are [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] and [name_f]Frida[/name_f].

[name_f]Mariella[/name_f] [name_m]Jeffries[/name_m] sounds weirdly pretty to me

I really like [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f], and think it flows just fine. However, as much as I adore [name_f]Freya[/name_f] myself, honestly, I think the connection to [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m] is perhaps a little too obscure/subtle for a namesake (which I kind of base on the idea that if you gave [name_f]Elise[/name_f] the middle [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and didn’t let on as to the reason, would your father, realise it’s for him?). That said, if you gave [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] the nickname of “[name_f]Effie[/name_f]” (due to her initials), that might offer a more obvious link to her grandfather, though nicknames, I understand, aren’t for everyone.

I think I prefer [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] for you to honor your father, as it is far more direct. I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] sounds lovely and flows beautifully, and, to top it off, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] sound fantastic as siblings as all four names are of a similar style.

I like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] as a nod to [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m], actually - no, it’s not obvious, but does it need to be to anyone outside of your family?

I did a little searching around and couldn’t get any closer than you did - [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m] > [name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] > [name_m]Gottfried[/name_m] > [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] > [name_m]Giotto[/name_m], but none lent themselves to feminizations. I checked out girls’ names with similar meanings (peace) and dug up [name_f]Freda[/name_f]/[name_f]Frida[/name_f]/[name_f]Freida[/name_f], which I like, but it’s not so far off from [name_f]Freya[/name_f].

I think you’re off to a solid start with [name_f]Freya[/name_f] - good luck!
