While I am not looking at having children anytime soon, if and when I do I would be looking to honour the name [name_f]Emily[/name_f] as it is the name of my dear big sister whom I love and care for very much. Although I like it, it’s just not a name I love and I would be looking to use a variant. However, I really dislike [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] as:
I knew an [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] once and she was constantly mistaken for an [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
It sounds like ‘milia’ which is a condition that I suffered from for many years where white spots form around the eye.
If there are any variants of [name_f]Emily[/name_f] that anyone knows of (apart from [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]) it would be very, very useful for me if you could list them. Thank you!
p.s. My sister’s (whom I want to honour in the first place) full name is [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] if that helps any.
@lumen - I love [name_f]Emilienne[/name_f], it hadn’t even occurred to me but that is a lovely suggestion! @thenamehunter - Thanks for the great suggestions - I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] for [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Betty[/name_f] for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
What about [name_u]Ember[/name_u], [name_f]Milly[/name_f] or [name_f]Mila[/name_f]? Most variants of [name_f]Emily[/name_f] sound pretty similar to [name_f]Emily[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], but there are lots of distinct variants of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], from [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] to [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. Here is a list: Meaning, origin and history of the name Elizabeth - Behind the Name.
