My husband and I cannot agree on a name we are both excited about. This is our second child, a boy, and with our first (a girl), picking the name was super easy.
I donāt want a common name but I really donāt like unusual names either. [name_f]Every[/name_f] name we have kind of liked has been common or we already know someone by that name.
Iāve been trying to figure out how to name him in a meaningful way and thereās plenty to work with but i am not sure [name_m]HOW[/name_m].
Heritage - our children are half Jewish with a proud [name_m]French[/name_m] family history
Personality - from what I can tell so far, heās strong but gentle, a bit on the shy/reserved side, perceptive, and likely empathetic/responsive
Pregnancy details? Itās been a very difficult pregnancy with being sick the entire time but getting to experience little hints of his personality and watching how much joy he brings to his older sister
Can anyone give me suggestions for some names? What is your gut feeling? [name_m]How[/name_m] would you approach the naming situation?
[name_m]Just[/name_m] some thoughts on having a ācommonā name from someone whose first name has probably been in the top ten for decades, if you like the name choose it! Especially if it is common but not trendy. I really donāt mind knowing that almost every class I had or place I work I will meet someone with my name. I love my name and am happy my parents picked it. It has significance for them and therefore for me. If you both agree on a name that seems special to you , do not let a number be the sole reason to dismiss it.
I struggle to suggest meaningful names for other people as I donāt know what will strike you as meaningful. 3 of my favorite french names with meanings I think fit the personality you describe are: [name_m]Pierre[/name_m] (rock), [name_u]Lionel[/name_u] (lion) and [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] (light).
I actually just published a blog post this morning on why I think giving a name with meaning is important and ways that you can hopefully find a meaningful name. My blog is in my signature if you want to check it out.
Good luck.
I would not select a name based on your fantasy of what his personality will be like. Whatās your daughterās name? [name_m]How[/name_m] did you choose it?
I think it is of upmost importance to just find a name that you love! Whether or not it is inspired by the babyās heritage, personality, or not, I think you, as the momma to be, should really love the name.
Your heritage might be a good place to start hunting for names. Nameberry has lots of lists with [name_m]French[/name_m] names and Biblical names to look through. [name_m]Luc[/name_m], [name_m]Olivier[/name_m], [name_u]Remi[/name_u] are all [name_m]French[/name_m] names. [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_m]Levi[/name_m], [name_m]Josiah[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m] are all Biblical names.
Meaning is also another way to gain ideas. You can look up Meaning of Names lists on this site if there is a certain attribute youād like to bestow upon your baby. [name_m]Axel[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], and [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] all have meanings associated with peace.
