How to pronounce Deirdre?

I like this name better as DEER-[name_f]Dree[/name_f], but some people say Deedree, Deedreh, or Deerdreh. What’s your favorite?

I pronounce it DEEr-dree and I think that is the proper one.

“DEER-druh” and “DEER-dree” are both acceptable pronunciations in English. I knew a [name_f]Deirdre[/name_f] when I was young and she pronounced it with the “dree” ending so that’s my favourite pronunciation of the name.

[name_m]Ive[/name_m] only ever heard [name_f]Dee[/name_f]-Druh and don’t care for it that way

I think DEER-druh is my favourite, though I like DEER-dree as well.

I’m in [name_f]Canada[/name_f], and I’ve ever heard it pronounced as DEER-druh. I far prefer this to DEER-dree, because it sounds more natural to me.

I pronounce it [name_f]Dee[/name_f]-druh. I went to school with a [name_f]Deirdre[/name_f], and she pronounced it that way as well.

I’ve only heard deer-druh as well. Deer-dree sounds odd to me because I’ve only heard it the other way. :stuck_out_tongue:
