Is there any means of getting specific icons/avatars off my screen for good?
[name_m]The[/name_m] closest feature i’ve found is the “ignore” feature, which only hides the icon in the specific instance of a reply on the topic’s page itself.
[name_m]The[/name_m] icons still show up on the main forum pages. [name_m]The[/name_m] icons still show up plainly on my tracked topics page, and at the bottom of every page, and won’t go away until i’ve clicked on that topic and opened the hidden reply anyway.
It’s an accessibility need. Some of my worst panic triggers (which i know better than to disclose publicly) happen to be some of the most common icon subjects. To use the internet at all, any site i use, i have to block/mute/ignore very many accounts not out of malice but just to get those images to go away so i can use the site safely.
i often find myself returning to this site after awhile, after i’ve forgotten how badly this affects me and gotten on another name kick. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time, being subjected to these images wears me down severely, and i end up leaving with a dejected sense of having to stuff my passion for names back down and talk to no one who cares about it, just to keep myself safe.
i just really wanna be able to use this site.
Is there some feature or function i’m missing?
What icons are you talking about? I don’t know if I’ve seen them or not, but I do use Adblock Plus. [name_m]The[/name_m] number of pop-ups on most sites is disturbing, but, since it’s automatically on for all sites, I just don’t turn it off for most of them. Therefore, I may not see what icons you’re talking about.
As in the avatars people use? Not ads or pop-ups. The images people choose to represent their accounts on-site.
i have two panic triggers that are extremely common subjects of avatars. These subjects are not ever considered to be sensitive nor even possibly upsetting, so they likely wouldn’t be obvious to you and wouldn’t register as “inappropriate” for the site. As said, i’m not comfortable disclosing my panic triggers publicly. i’m looking for the means to set things up that if i encounter a triggering avatar, i can make sure i never see that person’s avatar again.

I wasn’t asking for your triggers or medical condition, just an clarification of what icons you were referring to.
I have never looked into turning them off or hiding them personally so I do not know if there is a way or (if there is) how to do so.
Sorry. I hope someone else is able to answer your questions with more knowledge on the subject.

Wasn’t necessarily assuming you were asking for my triggers, but i appreciate the clarification. [name_m]Just[/name_m] trying to provide as much info as i can, i guess, because i feel like i’m maybe not wording things clearly.
No worries! i realize my issue is kinda specific. Thank you.

Would there be a way to block images for the website? I think you can do that by going into your browser settings.

i think you’re onto something that might work for me. i’m not very good with tech and used to most sites’ built-in “block” features getting rid of an account’s avatar image fully, so i didn’t think of this.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] did some searching, and it’s possible i’ve figured out how to use my browser’s “block element” feature to hide icons! [name_m]The[/name_m] jury’s still out about how consistently the image is hidden, but with any luck, maybe i could even un-ignore some accounts without having to see the images.
Thank you!
