We like the idea of using Ryan for a girl as it’s a family name and feels like a sweet homage to part of S/O’s family, but we’re unsure on how to spell it.
Ryan is the spelling used in the family, Ryann honours both sides of our family (Ryan + Ann, my mother’s middle name), as does Ryanne (Ryan + Anne, my grandmother’s middle name).
We’re not too concerned about how difficult the respellings can be, as a lot of names have to be spelled out nowadays, and neither respelling seems to be super complicated to explain.
Which spelling do you prefer for us?
Thanks!
I like [name_f]Ryann[/name_f] or [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] for a girl.

I chose [name_f]Ryann[/name_f], since I struggle to see [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] on a girl and prefer how it looks to [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f]

[name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] in my opinion. The niece of a friend of mine was just named [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] actually
I like [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. I would be unsure of the pronunciation on [name_f]Ryann[/name_f] and [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] (like [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] or like Rye-ann) but that wouldn’t be too difficult to explain. Of [name_f]Ryann[/name_f] and [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f], I think I like [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] - that last e makes it look a little more complete maybe? So, long winded way to say I think they all work but I would personally rank them as [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] > [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] > [name_f]Ryann[/name_f] lol
I like [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] personally, but I prefer [name_f]Ryann[/name_f] for you since it has the extra honor.
The only [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] I know pronounces it differently than Ryan/Ryann (she says ry-ANN) so I find that to feel like a different name than the other two.

I like [name_f]Ryann[/name_f]
I would pronounce [name_f]Ryann[/name_f] or [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] as “ry-ANN.” If that’s the pronunciation you want, [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] is my favorite! If you want “RY-in” (like the boys’ name), I would stick with [name_u]Ryan[/name_u].

[name_f]My[/name_f] niece’s middle name is [name_f]Ryann[/name_f] (pronounced Ryan) in honor of our step-brother
[name_f]Ryann[/name_f] or [name_f]Ryanne[/name_f] if you want it to be more clear that shes a girl from the spelling. Which I would
I think you can get away with just [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. I think of [name_f]Meg[/name_f] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] the actress so [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] doesn’t feel very exclusively male.
Riann/Rianna ?
