How to spell the name "lay-na"

Title says it all… [name]Lana[/name]? [name]Lena[/name]? [name]Laina[/name]?

I think [name]Laina[/name]. Cute!

[name]Lana[/name] is “lah-na” to me
And [name]Lena[/name] is “[name]Lee[/name]-na”

I would spell it;
[name]Laina[/name]

[name]Lana[/name], [name]Laina[/name], or [name]Leina[/name].

[name]Lena[/name] to me is [name]Lee[/name]-na.

My favorite is [name]Laina[/name].

I like [name]Lena[/name]. I know to a lot of people it’s [name]Lee[/name]-nah, but in many languages it’d be [name]Lay[/name]-nah, and it’s the only one that really looks like an actual name–[name]Laina[/name] and [name]Layna[/name] to me look like you’re just trying to spell out the sound, like they’re not really names on their own. Besides, I knew a Brazilian [name]Layna[/name]–her name was pronounced LIE-nah, like the end of [name]North[/name] [name]Carolina[/name], so I think [name]Laina[/name] or [name]Layna[/name] could have pronunciation problems of their own. I really love [name]Lena[/name] “lay-nah”, though!

Definitely [name]Laina[/name], [name]Layna[/name], or [name]Leina[/name] for me, though you’ll obviously get varying answers depending on the posters’ language of origin. [name]Lena[/name] is [name]LEE[/name]-na and [name]Lana[/name] is LA-na. I’ve never heard of this name before. It has a pretty sound, but I can’t help but feel like it’s missing the first syllable.

I’d go with [name]Lena[/name], its the nickname I’d use for a daughter called [name]Elena[/name]. [name]Lana[/name] I would pronounce LAR-nah and [name]Laina[/name] I’ve never seen but I’d lump it in with [name]Lena[/name].

I agree with pp’ers to get the sound [name]Lay[/name]-na I’d spell it [name]Laina[/name].
There is of course [name]Lainey[/name] as a variant of [name]Laney[/name] (diminutive of [name]Elaine[/name]) so [name]Laina[/name] while it needs a bit of getting used to doesn’t seem that far out of the norm.

Ditto for me. [name]Laina[/name] is great.

[name]Lena[/name] would be [name]LEE[/name]-nah for me and [name]Lana[/name] would be LA-nah for me.

To avoid confusion, I’d go with [name]Laina[/name]. [name]Layna[/name] is also cute but imo, [name]Laina[/name] looks nicer! I really like [name]Laina[/name].

Definitely [name]Laina[/name]. I actually loved this name for a long time as a young girl.

While none of them is wrong, [name]Laina[/name] lends itself to what you’re wanting

[name]Laina[/name] or I know a [name]Lina[/name] who insits her neme to be pronounced lay-na.

[name]Laina[/name] or [name]Layna[/name].

[name]Laina[/name] is really nice.

Either [name]Laina[/name] or [name]Leina[/name] (I prefer this spelling) kind of reminds me of [name]Leilani[/name]

I would spell it [name]Laina[/name]

My vote goes for [name]Laina[/name] as well. I think it works very well, looks pretty, and has the least pronunciation issues.

My parents gave me the name [name]Layna[/name] in 1982. Everyone struggled with the spelling and pronunciation all through school, but it is getting better as the name and other variations become more popular. My parents thought “[name]Layna[/name]” was the more phonetic way of spelling it and hoped it would be easier for others. [name]Laina[/name] is also nice, I have had people spell it this way before. I would use which ever version you are more drawn to. I love my name :).

[name]Just[/name] call her [name]Helena[/name]/ [name]Elena[/name]/ [name]Elaine[/name] and shorten it to the nick name you want.
