How to spell this pronunciation?

One name I really love is [name_m]Calum[/name_m] pronounced [name_f]Cay[/name_f] (rhymes with bay) lum (rhymes with gum). [name_m]How[/name_m] would you spell it? [name_m]Calum[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], Caelum, something else? Thanks for any input.

I would use Caelum for that pronunciation, especially because Caelum is sky in Latin

Yes, I second Caelum. The other option is Caylum.

[name_m]Callum[/name_m] will give you the short a sound or call rhyming with ball.

[name_m]Calum[/name_m] would most likely give the same pronounciations.

I know someone named [name_m]Callum[/name_m]–it’s an Irish name that sounds like the word “column,” and I would assume [name_m]Calum[/name_m] to be pronounced the same.

I would say Caelum as “[name_f]Cay[/name_f]-lum”–and it’s so cool that it means “sky” in Latin, as @stellarevolution pointed out. BUT, I looked it up online, and it seems like the Latin pronunciation is more like [name_u]Kai[/name_u]-lum (first syllable rhymes with sky). I’ve never studied latin, but several sources had it as “[name_u]Kai[/name_u]-lum.” Maybe that doesn’t matter, though, if most English speakers would say [name_f]Cay[/name_f]-lum?

Otherwise maybe Caylum itself is the clearest? Too bad English is so un-phonetic in its spelling! The name has a nice sound to it, but I don’t know which spelling I’d choose…

I know a guy with this pronunciation; his parents spelled it Kalem. This makes sense to me, but probably only because I know someone with this name.

Oh I like that Caelum means sky. And I find it interesting that if the name starts with the “K” I like the “em” ending better as well. Good things to consider. Thanks everyone so far.

This seems like a good idea, rhymes with [name_u]Salem[/name_u], reminiscent of [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], and the word “kale,” all of which have the “ay” sound.

I’d probably go with Caylum, though I would also pronounce Caelum that way. I much prefer [name_m]Calum[/name_m] or [name_m]Callum[/name_m] (pronounced [name_u]Cal[/name_u] (rhymes with gal)-um) over either though. Or if you really like the [name_f]Cay[/name_f] sound, I’d personally go with [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], which I think is also lovely.

Caylum or Caelum. The other pronunciations are a guaranteed “cal-lum”. Very nice name!

Cool name! Much prefer it to [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. I’d use Caelum.
