How Would You Describe This?

S/O and I have basically started fresh on our lists and I’m having a really hard time identifying what our girls’ style is - I like a lot of these names but not sure if I’ve found any I love yet, so I feel like knowing how to describe it would help me find more ideas

thank you!

These are beautiful names! I especially love Lily, Stephanie, Brooke, Evelyn, Jocelyn, Aaliyah, Autumn, Ruby, London, Daisy, Sienna, Eden, Quinn, Finley, Hadley, Aspen, and Ireland. I know favorites aren’t what you asked for but I’ll be back with a moodboard.

The word that comes to mind for me is current. Basically, I would not be surprised to meet with any of these names on a little girl born today. [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], [name_u]Alexis[/name_u], and [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] are the exceptions, just because they feel a little more dated and would actually be unexpected on a newborn! But I don’t mean that in a negative way.

Here’s the moodboard. These names give me 90’s girl vibes with fashion, spunk, and naturalist elements added in (sorry if that makes no sense). There’s spunky Stephanie, Alexis, Destiny, Kylie, Alexandra, Mackenzie, and Arianna that combine fashionability with hot 90’s trends. There’s current Navy, Hadley, Everly, Kamryn, Sienna, London, Ruby, Kennedy, Aaliyah, Sophie, Evelyn, Zoey, Brooklyn, Lily, Sophia, Ava, Olivia, and Emma that give your style modern pop. Finally, there are names like Avery, Riley, Peyton, Hayden, Eden, Quinn, Parker, Finley, Holland, Aspen, Ireland, Daisy, and Sailor that give off fresh unisex and/or nature vibes. This probably made no sense so apologies about that, but maybe the moodboard will be helpful.

I tried to keep it as cohesive as possible.

I would call your style modern traditional with a tomboy undertone from the surname and unisex names. Most of these names have been moderately popular recently, if only briefly or regionally.

What comes to mind for me, is ‘modern American’. Purely because I don’t know anyone with these names (except for [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_u]Zoe[/name_u], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and Emma) and I’m European.

Modern [name_f]Girl[/name_f] Next Door [name_f]Americana[/name_f]

Individually these names don’t wow me, but all together there’s a sort of nostalgic, very down to earth vibe.

Perhaps weirdly, the first word that came to mind was ‘clean.’

They feel very contemporary to me and quite American. I’d say they sit comfortably between being trendy and not tied to one time either. They give me Dance Moms vibes (and I don’t mean that in a bad way or as an insult!)

A lot of them feel like they are currently popular names in the southern US. I get sweet [name_f]Girl[/name_f] Scouts and kids sport team vibes. Crafts, orange slices and friendship bracelets. School being canceled just at the slightest chance of snow :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. Braided hair and sleepovers!

The first word that came to mind was ‘American’ for me as well  There are some classics, modern names and 80s and 90s names. The girl next door is a pretty good description from my European perspective.

Hmm… maybe spunky contemporary? These names seem characteristic of naming trends from the 80s to today. Some of them are/were topping the charts, but others are a little more unique. All of these names feel friendly, fun, and spirited.

I would say “On Trend” most on your list are fairly popular at the moment so thats the kind of vibe I get, but you do have some outliers that also feel like they would fit in with current trend. So i would agree with the Modern Contemporary, or Modern Unisex that others have come up with

(i know you didn’t ask for favorites but I love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], and [name_f]Macy[/name_f]. You may also like [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] since [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] has been vetoed. They always gave me similar vibes)

Continuing the discussion from How Would You Describe This?:

Thank you everyone! :heartpulse:

Ooh I like this idea! I know S/O had a lot of more current faves and when I stopped to think about it, I seemed to click with a lot of the names popular right now

Ooh that’s a great way of describing it, and I love the moodboard! Lol I definitely have a mix of names going on.

Ooh Modern Traditional is nice! I know US wise they’ve all been on the radar recently, unfortunately Canada’s stats arent as clear, so it’s harder to tell for where I live!

I’ve gotten this a couple of times in the past too! It makes sense tbh

I love this moodboard! The moodboard feels nostalgic for me too with the American Girl magazine and the lunchbox lol

I can see that, they have sort of a clean, fresh air vibe to me

Ironically, I’ve been watching Dance Moms lately  I’m totally cool with Dance Moms vibes.

I’ve been told my style is Southern before too  I like this imagery too! It’s super nostalgic!

Definitely agree with On trend! and I love Sawyer, btw! Thank you! :heartpulse:

Before I finished reading the other comments my impulse in naming this style was “on trend girl next door,” and that seems to be the verdict in the comments.

I love this mood board! It is perfect for that group of names and gives the best vibes
