Hello berries! I’ve been rewatching one of my favorite sitcoms–[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] in the Middle–about a dysfunctional family living in early 2000s’ [name_u]California[/name_u]. The parents, [name_m]Hal[/name_m] and [name_f]Lois[/name_f], have five sons: [name_u]Francis[/name_u], [name_u]Reese[/name_u], [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], [name_m]Dewey[/name_m], and [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]. In the series finale, [name_f]Lois[/name_f] finds out she is pregnant again. I’ve always wondered what they’d name a sixth baby, and whether or not it would be a girl after five boys. In one episode, titled “If Boys Were Girls”, [name_f]Lois[/name_f] imagines what life would be like if her sons had been girls. Their names change from [name_u]Francis[/name_u], [name_u]Reese[/name_u], [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], and [name_m]Dewey[/name_m], to [name_u]Francis[/name_u], [name_f]Renee[/name_f], [name_u]Mallory[/name_u], and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f].
With all that in mind, I still think the family’s style leans over to more gender neutral names ([name_u]Francis[/name_u], [name_u]Reese[/name_u], Mallory and [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]). Regardless of gender, I think names they might choose would be:

I always thought that the names of those characters were really well thought out & fairly unexpected. [name_m]Even[/name_m] as a young teen when I watched the show when it was first on. I remember being very pleased.
I think that from your list [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is what they’d name #6. At least a few of their names are kind of Gaelic/Scottish-y, so [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] works well & is fairly unisex. What if they had a little [name_u]Ari[/name_u] for the next baby? I love [name_u]Ari[/name_u] for a boy, but I’m honestly not too turned off by it for a girl either. I also think that [name_u]Chase[/name_u] would be cute. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_u]Kit[/name_u]?!

Yes! I remember loving the sibset when I was younger as well.
I love [name_u]Ari[/name_u] on either gender! And I have a soft spot for [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as well. I wonder if they’d give the baby a full name, or just use what others would call a nn as a full name? [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] is his full name, not [name_u]James[/name_u], for example. [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is extremely cute on its own, though I see it as a nn for [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] usually.
