How would you pronouce ISLA?

We love this name but how would people pronounce it?

[name]Isla[/name] : Eas- la ( like eas - ter) ?

[name]Isla[/name] [name]Fisher[/name] says [name]ILA[/name] , no S

or

IzLA ?

I say Eye-luh, like island or isle, though I said ess-luh for years.

My daughter’s name is [name]Isla[/name], we pronounce it eye-la.

thanks. I do like es-la too.

its a gorgeous name no matter how its pronounced anyway.

Like island. I’ve never heard it pronounced any other way.

Eye-la for sure

I pronounce it eas-la I guess because well I live in a spanish speaking country and isla is the spanish word for island and you say it that way so I’d use the same pronounciation for the name

Eye-la, because it comes from the same roots as island, like the British Isles.

As a name - eyeluh
As a word -eesluh

Eye-luh, for sure.

Eye-luh for a name…

{eyez-luh} for me, which is different from isle, island and [name]Ayla[/name] (which also has a few different prns.).

eye-luh since it’s spelled like Island, without the nd and is close to the word isle…

I say it like Eye-La.

eye-luh, like the beginning of the word island

Another vote for Eye-la.

It’s Eye-la.

I think most people say it EYE-lah (I do!), but the Spanish pronunciation, EES-lah, is really cool, I think.

Have recently begun pronouncing it EYE-lah, but my initial take on the name (as a foreigner who’s had Spanish in school and listened to a lot of [name]Madonna[/name]) was ESS-lah. I also actually prefer EES-lah to EYE-lah.

Unfortunately there are always going to be people whp pronounce it like Izla. Whenever I see [name]Isla[/name], I have to stop for a sec and remember the S is silent. Few people are going to be aware that it’s pronounced like isle/island.
