How would you pronounce Ayla?

Contemplating [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] as a possibility and curious what you all think about how it is pronounced?

I would pronounce it as Ay-luh on sight, with the first syllable rhyming with hay.

Either EYE-la, the way it’s pronounced in my family, like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is said or AY-la, rhymes with [name_f]Kayla[/name_f], depends on the person’s accent or linguistic background. I believe Latinos will be tempted to pronounce it the first way, Slavs, Italians, [name_m]French[/name_m]-speakers, Turkish and Arabic speakers too.

probably AY-la, but I could see EYE-la

Ay-Lah (like [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] without the K)

I see it as EYE-la.

Eye-luh…like [name_f]Isla[/name_f]

At first glance, I thought AY-lah, and then on second glance I thought IY-lah. Either way (but especially IY-lah), it’s a pretty name!

Rhymes with [name_f]Kayla[/name_f]

its a really popular name in [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand

Eye-lah is how I instinctively pronounce it, like [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

My first thought was “eye-la” (like [name_f]Isla[/name_f])…

Same as [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. “EYE-la”

I would pronounce it ay-luh but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone pronounced it like [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

Ay-La

I never thought of the Eye - la pronouciation

Thanks all! Very helpful & definitely more varied than what I thought.

Ay-la (although I’m used to seeing this in its Hebrew form of [name_f]Eila[/name_f]) It’s a beautiful name!

[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] = AY-la, [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] without the K
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] = EYE-la, like island without the nd

My first instinct is AY-la rhymes with [name_f]Kayla[/name_f], but I’ve also heard it pronounced EYE-la like [name_f]Isla[/name_f], and that was easy to get used to. If you want the second pronunciation I’d just go with [name_f]Isla[/name_f], though.

I’d say EYE-la also. A-la, like [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] sounds a bit awkward to me. I’m in the US. [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it?

I knew an [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] who said it like [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] minus the K.
