Title says it all. Thank you!
My grandmothers name was [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] and I would pronounce [name_f]Emme[/name_f] the same way like [name_f]Em[/name_f]-ee
I knew a girl who went to my summer camp (long ago) named [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (M.E.), but she wrote her name ‘[name_f]Emme[/name_f]’ and pronounced it [name_f]Em[/name_f]-ee. That’s how I say it.
Same as [name_f]Emmy[/name_f].
[name_f]Emmy[/name_f] is how I’d say [name_f]Emme[/name_f] too.
Like [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] it spelled this way!
I would pronounce it [name_f]EM[/name_f]-ee.
I did a little research and most places said EH-mee.
Ooh… Toughy.
I might go with ‘emma’ like [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is ‘o-teel-ya’ and [name_f]Liese[/name_f] is ‘leeza’, one of those sneaky ‘I end in an “e” but I’m secretly an “a”’ Germanic names, but I guess it could also be ‘em’, like the letter. I wouldn’t guess [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] though.
I’d say [name_f]Em[/name_f] but I guess it could be [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]. I would say [name_f]Em[/name_f] initially.
I have a little cousin named [name_f]Emme[/name_f]. We pronounce it Emm-ee, like the [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] Awards.
[name_f]Em[/name_f], like the letter.
I would say it like [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] as thats the way I’ve heard it said.
I would pronounce it [name_f]Em[/name_f] like the letter as well.
As far as I can tell (from about 15 minutes of online research) it’s supposed to be pronounced similarly to [name_f]Emmy[/name_f].
I personally would probably pronounce it closer to [name_f]EM[/name_f]-mae - I don’t really know why I just think I prefer the sound.
Thanks, you have helped! I was wondering if you would pronounce it like the letter ‘M’ or like ‘[name_f]Emmy[/name_f]’. It looks as though most of you would do the “[name_f]Emmy[/name_f]” pronunciation.
We are considering the name [name_f]Emily[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Emme[/name_f]. I have always liked the look of [name_f]Emme[/name_f] (as opposed to [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]), but don’t want massive pronunciation problems.
I had NO idea that [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] was pronounced as o-teel-ya! I always assumed ought-ih-lee. It makes the name much prettier…lovely even!
My name is [name_f]Emmie[/name_f], so I’d lean more to [name_f]Emme[/name_f] being pronounced like the letter M… However, with an accent mark, it would make perfect sense to pronunce it like my name!
The letter M.
Yup, also [name_f]Emme[/name_f] as [name_f]Em[/name_f]-ee I knew a little girl called [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] who went by [name_f]Emme[/name_f] ([name_f]Em[/name_f]-ee) which I though was a cute nn.
[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: I also agree, I much prefer the look of [name_f]Emme[/name_f] than [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]. You could write it [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]? But I think most people would pn. [name_f]Emme[/name_f] the way you want anyway
I’d say it like the letter M, just like the way I pronounce [name_f]Elle[/name_f] as only one syllable.
