How would you say Alena?

I have come across a quite a few variations in spelling and pronunciation for [name_f]Alena[/name_f]. I’m curious as to how you would pronounce it at first sight?

Judging as possible contender for our short list for our baby girl but if it’s overly mispronounced or misspelled I’m not sure how I feel about using it…

[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-lehnah.

on first sight I’d say [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-lay-na.

Uh-[name_u]Lee[/name_u]-[name_m]Nuh[/name_m] is how I would pronounce it.

It’s one of my contenders as well

a-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-na. With the ‘a’ being short and flat like ‘cat’.

uh-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-nuh is how I would pronounce it.

A-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-na is how I would say it.

I pronounce [name_f]Alena[/name_f] as Uh-lay-nuh and [name_f]Alina[/name_f] as Uh-lee-nuh.

[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-lee-nah.

I say Uh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-na. Basically the same way I pronounce [name_f]Elena[/name_f]/[name_f]Elaina[/name_f]/[name_f]Alaina[/name_f].

[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-nah. [name_f]Alina[/name_f], to me, would be the same pronunciation. However, [name_f]Alana[/name_f] is pronounced [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah to me, similar to [name_f]Elena[/name_f], instead of [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_m]LAW[/name_m]-nah.

[name_m]AH[/name_m]-lee-nah

I wouldn’t say it! I’d look at it, then ask you how to pronounce it, because there are so many different ways of saying it like you see from previous posters!

Is [name_f]Alena[/name_f] a proper name? I’ve seen [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Alaina[/name_f]… never [name_f]Alena[/name_f]

ah-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah

I initially said Uh-[name_m]Lay[/name_m]-nuh, but then I thought Uh-Leen-uh. I think you could get lots of different pronunciations for this one.

At first glance I read it as [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-nah, but I could also see it as [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah.
