My first instinct is like the mermaid, but if someone told me R E L I would understand and get it right after that.
I say it something like are-ee-yell.
I usually pronounce [name]Arielle[/name] as -R E L, and [name]Ariel[/name] as -air ree ul like in The [name]Little[/name] Mermaid. [name]Even[/name] though it’s the same name just spelled differently.
I personally prefer [name]Arielle[/name] or [name]Ariella[/name] “R E ella” but I think [name]Ariel[/name] is really pretty too.
I say it this way.
My sister’s name is [name]Arielle[/name](pronounced REL) but she gets the little mermaid air-ee-ell pronunciation a lot from strangers who just look at the name, doctor, interviews, etc… And then the people who know its pronounced REL but still always say it like little mermaid. She often gets compliments on the correct pronunciation though. We call her [name]Arie[/name] for short.
REL or more like “ah ree el” you can listen to english and french prn here:Pronunciations for arielle (from Arielle Dombasle to Arielle Kebbel)
Like [name]Ariel[/name] or maybe even airy-elle.
Exactly. Ar-ee-[name]ELL[/name] for [name]Arielle[/name], and [name]AIR[/name]-ee-uhl for [name]Ariel[/name].
is [name]Arielle[/name] (ar-ee-[name]ELL[/name] NOT [name]AIR[/name]-ee-uhl) too related to be sister to [name]Aurora[/name]? [name]Rory[/name] and [name]Aria[/name]? does it matter that they are both disney princesses, even though it is said differently?
I don’t think it’s too close at all. Especially if you’re referring to them as [name]Rory[/name] and [name]Aria[/name], and pronouncing it ar-ee-ell and not air-ee-ul. A lot of people I know don’t even know that [name]Aurora[/name] is the name of the princess in Sleeping Beauty-they just call her Sleeping Beauty, ha! I think some people(like me) will definitely make the connection, just because I’m a HUGE Disney fan, but even then, it’s not a bad one to have. :]
Arry-elle (rhyming with [name]Danielle[/name])
I was under the impression that [name]Ariel[/name] was a Hebrew name pronounced R-E-L and Disney just pronounced it incorrectly in the film?
For [name]Arielle[/name] I would say [name]Ah[/name]-ree-el because with that spelling it’s pretty much phonetic. To me anyway.
Since [name]Arielle[/name] is the French spelling of [name]Ariel[/name], I pronounce it “ah ree [name]ELLE[/name]” (the emphasis is on the last syllable).
