How would you spell a name if you wanted a mad-eh-lynn?

[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]

Madylin

[name_f]Madelynn[/name_f]

another spelling?

I like mad-eh-lynn, but dislike the -line pronunciation. I do think I like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] best, though.

I would do [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], but that’s also my [name_u]French[/name_u] Canadian background talking. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] would give the same result. I ask whenever I meet a [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] whether it’s -lyn or -line sounding.

[name_f]Madelynn[/name_f]

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] is the most intuitive one to me for that pronunciation, but if you prefer the look of [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], then I don’t think correcting people who say mad-eh-line is that much of a hassle!

[name_f]Every[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] I’ve known has been mad-eh-lynn, though that might be regional. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is my favorite spelling, but I pronounce it with more of a -lehn ending. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] is probably your best bet to avoid mispronunciation, but I imagine it will have to be spelled regardless! I also know a [name_f]Madelin[/name_f] and [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f] for other spellings.

i would do Madelyn but that’s because i say Madeline and Madeleine with the -line ending. lots of people say those spellings as -lyn, though, so i think you can use Madeline with that pronunciation

Probably [name_f]Madelynn[/name_f] from your list.

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] :two_hearts:

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] or [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f]

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]! [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] would be pronounce mad-uh-line.

The internet’s consensus seems to be that [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is pronounced with a “lynn” or “len” pronunciation, but the two that I know are “line”, soooo I kind of don’t associate it with the “lynn” pronunciation, lol. But technically that is my favorite.

If I were to choose a “lynn” spelling myself, I’d probably go with [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f]. I don’t know why, but it looks more balanced to me than [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f].

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Madalyn[/name_f], or [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f]

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]

I know a [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] mad-uh-lynn, but for that pronunciation 100% of the time, I’d go with [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]. (I’d pronounce [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] mad-uh-lehn.)

I’d say [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], but I’ve never known a mad-uh-line with any spelling!

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]

For me, [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]!
I prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] with the -line pronunciation.
[name_f]My[/name_f] brain toggles back between -lyn and -line for [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], however.
I think though, however you spell it will be an easy correction. Most people revert to the -lyn pronunciation anyway!

I much prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] but do think that the Mad-Uh-Line pronunciation would be instinctive. However, I agree that it would be a quick fix.

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is as close as you can get to ‘mad-eh-lynn’ with a reasonable spelling in my opinion. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is ‘mad-eh-line’ and everything else is an abomination in my eyes
