I named my daughter [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] 18 years ago, and back then I chose this spelling because I thought phonetically it would be the simplest. Nowadays the name is much more widely recognized, so I think either spelling is fine. I do like the visual [name_f]Anna[/name_f] more than [name_f]Anne[/name_f], (perhaps that is my leftover AOGG influence) but the prettiest overall spelling [name_f]IMO[/name_f] is [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]. Also, Annelies [name_m]Frank[/name_m] (a heroic namesake, indeed!) spelled her name like this, I believe - no e on the end.
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] looks more classic and timeless to me. I don’t think the name is popular enough for any one spelling to be the default, so you’d have to spell it out whichever one you used anyways.
I think both of them are fine. I would go with [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], simply because I prefer the way it looks.
I believe that in [name_m]German[/name_m] and Dutch [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and Annelies would be pronounced differently.
The beautiful, classic [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f].
I strongly prefer [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. I know it’s only one letter that’s different, but it completely changes the name for me.
Back in college there were 2 women in my sorority with this name. They both spelled it [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]. I also knew an [name_f]Analiese[/name_f] (I highly dislike this spelling).
My favorite spellings in order:
Between [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and [name_f]Annalise[/name_f], I like [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] better. I prefer the spelling [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] over all spellings of the name though.
