How would YOU spell it?

I looove the nickname ‘[name_m]Ry[/name_m]’. Because of that I’ve landed on the name [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] or [name_m]Ryland[/name_m]. Middle name will most likely be [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] or [name_m]Ward[/name_m] (honor names)

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband is on board but we are debating which variation of the name to use and the actual spelling.

So for each of the variations below, which one would you go with/think makes the most sense?

[name_u]Rylan[/name_u]
[name_u]Rylen[/name_u]
Rhylan
Rhylen

[name_m]Ryland[/name_m]
Rylend
Rhyland
Rhylend

In our area the general pronunciation of [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] sounds like Rhy-len not Rhy-lin.
And [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] is similar, pronounced as Rhy-lend - the D isn’t really stressed, it’s a softer sound, kind of clipped off at the end.

I’m concerned [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] could be confused as a girls name particularly if it’s pronounced with the lin ending and [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] is kinda like a theme park and he may be teased.

I like [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] best! The D makes it more masculine, I agree.

Either [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] or [name_m]Ryland[/name_m]! [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t spell it weird, but depends your preference if you want it [name_m]Ry[/name_m]-[name_u]Lind[/name_u] or [name_m]Ry[/name_m]-[name_m]Len[/name_m]

Rylan & [name_m]Ryland[/name_m]. [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] doesn’t sound girly to me and I don’t think [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] would be easily teaseable.

I would go with the [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] and [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] spellings. They’re definitely the most straightforward to me. I know a male and female [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] and has never leaned one way or the other in my mind. I personally wouldn’t assume he was a girl, but I can’t speak on if others would or not. I think the only way [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] sounds like a “theme park” is if you’re putting effort into pronouncing the second syllable as land, which it doesn’t sound like you’re doing. I doubt he’d get teased for that.

i can see the appeal of Rhyland, the h gives it a more fantasy, unusual vibe, but to avoid confusion with the spelling id go for [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] or [name_m]Ryland[/name_m]

When I see [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] I can’t even hear the lin ending I hear it as rye-lun and for me it is masculine

I would go with [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] or [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] whichever you prefer

Hi there.

I’d keep it simple w/Rylan or [name_m]Ryland[/name_m]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_u]Ryder[/name_u]? That seems even easier, & really cute. [name_u]Ryder[/name_u] [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] would be super cool.

Rylan or [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] are the best spellings I think. But I agree that [name_u]Ryder[/name_u] may be easier, and I also want to suggest just [name_u]Rye[/name_u], which is my favorite variant.

I would go for [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] or [name_m]Ryland[/name_m]! These seem like the most straightforward spellings to me. [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] is unisex to my ear and [name_m]Ryland[/name_m] is mostly boy. I think either works nicely for a boy, and I love [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] as a middle name for either. I definitely never would have thought “theme park” on my own from [name_m]Ryland[/name_m]–I wouldn’t expect that to be a teasing issue at all!
