What’s the best way to spell the name pronounced “Lee-lah” I know there’s spellings like [name_f]Leila[/name_f] but that can also be pronounced like [name_f]Layla[/name_f]. I don’t know if having two e’s would look odd like [name_f]Leela[/name_f]
I would go [name_f]Lila[/name_f] or [name_f]Leela[/name_f] as both LEE-lahs I know spell their names these ways.
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]! You’ll probably get it mistaken for lye-lah sometimes but it’s an easy correction to make, and to me it looks much nicer and neater than [name_f]Leela[/name_f].
[name_f]Leela[/name_f] would be the most foolproof version for me. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] for me is predominantly ly-luh, while [name_f]Leila[/name_f] is predominantly lay-luh, although I could adjust to lee-luh for either.
[name_f]Leela[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]!
[name_f]Leela[/name_f] is the only spelling I’ve heard mainly pronounced lee-lah in [name_f]English[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] will get lye-lah 9 times out of 10. I’ve known a [name_f]Leela[/name_f] and I think it’s a sweet name!
I like [name_f]Leela[/name_f], it’s straightforward and doesn’t look odd to me at all. I think it’s lovely!
I think [name_f]Leela[/name_f] is fairly foolproof, otherwise [name_f]Lila[/name_f] but you might have to correct the [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] pronunciations!
I know one spelled [name_f]Leela[/name_f]!
[name_f]Leela[/name_f] doesn’t seem weird to me, and I think it’s the best way to ensure the Lee-lah pronunication.
I like how [name_f]Leela[/name_f] looks It makes it the most obvious.
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] or [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] could work too - I’ve met a [name_f]Lila[/name_f] said ‘lee-luh’
[name_f]Leela[/name_f] or maybe [name_f]Lela[/name_f].
Thanks for the reassurance. It’ll be [name_f]Leela[/name_f] then to make things easier
I know a little one named Leel@ and that spelling definitely doesn’t seem clunky to me! I prefer it spelled [name_f]Leelah[/name_f] but I also seem to enjoy overcomplicating things lol
[name_f]Leela[/name_f] seems the most straightforward. I do know a [name_f]Leila[/name_f] who goes by Lee-la, but I also know of another who goes by Lay-la
I agree with [name_f]Leela[/name_f] like on Futurama
I would guess [name_f]Leila[/name_f]! I’m always surprised when people on NB pronounce [name_f]Leila[/name_f] as [name_f]Layla[/name_f] or [name_f]Lila[/name_f] as [name_f]Leila[/name_f]. I know two Leilas who are both lee-luh. But [name_f]Leela[/name_f] is very sweet too and would definitely get the pronunciation you want.
[name_f]Lela[/name_f] in my head is lee lah… I would say [name_f]Leila[/name_f] like [name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] like [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]. [name_f]Leela[/name_f] does look a little odd, but not terrible, to me, but [name_f]Lela[/name_f] looks sweet and timeless but the lee lah sound makes sense to me. I feel like I have heard others use [name_f]Lela[/name_f] for LEE lah too. [name_f]Leela[/name_f] is nice too though.
Good luck!
This was exactly my thought!
