How would you spell "stef-en"?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries,

I enjoy the sound of “stef-en” and it would honour a family name Stephens0n which is pronounced with a v. But I really dont like “[name_m]Steve[/name_m]-en” and I would really like to avoid that

So before thinking too much into it what would be the most obvious spelling to you?

Either [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] or [name_m]Stefan[/name_m], but I think I prefer the latter. It would also probably make things easier on both you and him because the pronunciation would be obvious.

Yeah I agree
I worry [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] would get “steff-ahn” tho?

[name_m]Stefan[/name_m] would seem simplest to me

I think [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] as well, like the character from Vampire Diaries.

I would spell it [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] or [name_m]Steffen[/name_m] (maybe the latter would be best for you, if you want to avoid the -ahn pronunciation).

[name_m]Stefan[/name_m]. I prefer the look of [name_m]Stephan[/name_m] but understand it could easily be confused with [name_m]Stephen[/name_m].

Thanks everyone. I thought [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] would be the most obvious but sometimes I’m wrong

I think [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] too.

I’d say [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] like steh-[name_f]FAWN[/name_f] not STEFF-an. [name_m]Stephan[/name_m] or maybe [name_m]Steffen[/name_m] would be my pick.

Stefen or [name_m]Steffen[/name_m], I think. [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] to me is stef-fawn and [name_m]Stephan[/name_m] would be too much like [name_m]Stephen[/name_m].

I went to school with a [name_m]Steffan[/name_m]. I think the double ‘ff’ differentiates it from the ste-fawn pronunciation.

I would spell it [name_m]Stephan[/name_m]. I would assume [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] to be pronounced steff-AHN, not steff-en. However, I wouldn’t think twice if someone did pronounce [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] as steff-en.

You can use “F” or “ph” models as they’re contrastable to the “Steven” spelling. When You inherit a “ph” model the ambiguity is essential grooming to know. The diminutive may be “Steve” or “Steph”

Only person I know with the name spells it [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] and that’s the simplest way to make sure there’s no pronunciation issues.

I know a [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] who pronounces it that way.

[name_m]Stefan[/name_m]!
(I’ve generally heard it pronounced “STEFF-en”, not “stef-AWN”).
