[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
I’m trying to figure out the best way to spell the name eh-lee-see-ya / [name_f]Elise[/name_f]-ee-ya.
I assumed it was spelled [name_f]Elisia[/name_f], but that appears to be a variation of [name_f]Elysia[/name_f], which is a legitimate name but looks wrong and made-up. There is also [name_f]Alessia[/name_f], but from what I can find that is pronounced more like ah-less-ee-ya (like the beginning of [name_u]Alexis[/name_u]). Aleesia also looks wrong and made-up and I can’t find any information on that spelling so I assume that it is made-up. I want to use this name to honor someone named [name_f]Elise[/name_f], so [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] isn’t what I am after.
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you spell it? Go with the legitimate [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] despite it looking made-up? Or go with an actual made-up spelling like [name_f]Elisia[/name_f]/Aleesia/other.

I would go with [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] because it doesn’t look made up to me. It looks like it comes from the legitimate word Elysium, which it does. The name [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] is also sometimes pronounced very similarly to what you’re wanting. The first vowel sound it just a bit more like uh instead of eh.
I’ll actually just stick with [name_f]Elysia[/name_f]. 
[name_f]Elysia[/name_f] doesn’t look made up to me at all, but to each their own I suppose. I think using [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] or even [name_f]Alysia[/name_f] would cut down on issues with spelling/pronunciation though, as when I saw [name_f]Elisia[/name_f], I misread it as [name_f]Elisa[/name_f].
I also like the suggestion of [name_f]Alicia[/name_f].
[name_f]Elysia[/name_f] doesn’t look made up. I’m not even sure what that means…
I love [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] personally, it doesn’t look made up to me - it’s from Elysium, the Ancient Greek conception of Paradise. I think it’s a great link! [name_f]Elisia[/name_f] could work too if that’s the one you like best.
A made-up spelling… a very common thing with names…
Like [name_f]Christine[/name_f] becoming Chrystyne or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] becoming Olyvya. Not sure why that phrase is taboo. They are spellings still commonly used but they are still made-up. shrugs
Honestly I would go with [name_f]Alicia[/name_f], if that is the pronunciation you are hoping for. If you really want it to look like [name_f]Elise[/name_f] you could swap the A for an E ([name_f]Elicia[/name_f]), which looks less pretty but I think would still generally be pronounced correctly. [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] is alright as well, but I am more inclined to favor [name_f]Alicia[/name_f].

I see what you mean about [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] looking like a creative spelling BUT since putting a ‘y’ where an ‘i’ should be is so on trend right now, it’s kind of cool that she would have a spelling like [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] and it’s not a creative spelling It reminds me of [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] which also has a fun spelling and is a name I love!
To be honest, if [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] wasn’t linked to a page with its meaning I would have NO idea that it is a legitimate spelling OR that is means ‘from Elysium’ and I’d bet that a lot of people don’t know that off the top of their heads.
I like [name_f]Elysia[/name_f], and it does not appear made up to me. I think its a great name to honor someone named [name_f]Elise[/name_f] without using just [name_f]Elise[/name_f], though I also like [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
[name_f]Elysia[/name_f]. It’s a legitimate name and has been around for a long time. I don’t see how it appears “made up.”
