[name_f]Lila[/name_f], but I’d be expecting to correct people. [name_f]Leela[/name_f] is more directive, but not as sweet, I don’t feel.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Leela[/name_f] looks terrible to me.

I know I will be in the minority but I’d rather just correct people than have a spelling (that I dont like) for simplicity. With my own name I actually get a kick out of some of the pronunciations I get called :smiley:

[name_f]Leela[/name_f] used to be a favourite of mine and I still like this, plus it’s the most obvious for that pronunciation. But [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is very high on my list right now. She’s so sweet and simple. Yes, it may get pronounced [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] at times, but I guess that’s something you just have to consider.

I know a few [name_f]Indian[/name_f] girls named [name_f]Leela[/name_f], as its a Sanskrit name. I think it’s very pretty. Others suggestions…

I think if it’s important to you there is no confusion over pronunciation, [name_f]Leela[/name_f] makes the most sense, but visually, [name_f]Lila[/name_f] does seem more attractive…!

I knew a girl with that pronunciation spelled [name_f]Lela[/name_f]. I’ve only ever heard [name_f]Lila[/name_f] pronounced lie-luh, and [name_f]Leela[/name_f] looks off to me.

While I really like [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (said [name_u]LEE[/name_u]-luh), I feel like so many would pronounce it as [name_m]LY[/name_m]-luh, particularly in predominantly English-speaking places. I think that if getting your [name_u]LEE[/name_u]-luh pronunciation is a big concern, and you live in an English-speaking country, [name_f]Leela[/name_f] (or [name_f]Lela[/name_f]) would be the best spelling. Otherwise, if you don’t mind the idea of correcting people, [name_f]Lila[/name_f] would be great.

I would assume it to be [name_f]Lela[/name_f] or [name_f]Leela[/name_f], if the parents were from an English speaking country. If they were not, I would assume it to be [name_f]Lila[/name_f] (though this will be ly-la to most English speakers).

[name_f]Leela[/name_f] I think is the most intuitive, but doesn’t look very pretty.

[name_f]Leila[/name_f] - maybe a good in between? I think it’s more intuitively [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-la sound than the [name_f]Lila[/name_f] sound, but could go the [name_m]Lay[/name_m]-la way.
