How would you spell?

A name pronounce Uh-lease. Two syllables. I’ve been spelling it [name_f]Elyse[/name_f], but someone mentioned that’s pronounced long e sound-lease. Any ideas? Thanks!

[name_f]Elise[/name_f]? Pretty sure that’s the pronunciation you’re after. [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] looks more ambiguous in the pronunciation to me.

I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is the name you’re looking for. I would pronounce [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] the same way but I prefer the [name_f]Elise[/name_f] spelling.

I would spell it [name_f]Elise[/name_f].

Definitely [name_f]Elise[/name_f].

It’s [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] has a couple different pronunciations, but the one you listed is the one I’ve always used.

Also [name_f]Elise[/name_f].

[name_f]Elise[/name_f], as said above, or [name_f]Alyse[/name_f].

[name_f]Elyse[/name_f] is how I’d spell it, but it is a hard E. If you want the Uh sound, I’d do [name_f]Alyse[/name_f].

I’ve always pronounce [name_f]Elise[/name_f] as ‘ee-lease’. For ‘uh-lease’ I’d assume it started with A, so [name_f]Alise[/name_f] or [name_f]Alyce[/name_f].

[name_f]Alise[/name_f] or [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Elise[/name_f], but I have also seen [name_f]Alise[/name_f].

I knew a girl who pronounced her name uh-lease, and she spelt it [name_f]Alyse[/name_f], so I guess id say either that or [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] looks a bit odd, and [name_f]Alise[/name_f] looks too much like [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

I guess [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. If you spell it [name_f]Alyse[/name_f] or [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] or [name_f]Alise[/name_f] they would all just look like you were trying to be “creative”.

I’d use [name_f]Elise[/name_f]

Generally, it is [name_f]Elise[/name_f], but my sister’s is [name_f]Elyse[/name_f]. There are varying ways to say it, based mostly off people’s accents. We most commonly say “Uh-leese”.

I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] works with your desired pronunciation. When I meet an English-speaker with this name I assume it’s pronounced “uh-lease.” In [name_m]French[/name_m] the long “E” sound is marked by an accent Élise, anyways. I’ve never heard the “ee-lease” pronunciation, personally.

My advice is to steer clear of [name_f]Alyse[/name_f]/[name_f]Alise[/name_f], I predict this will cause confusion with [name_f]Alice[/name_f]–or might lead to the pronunciation of [name_m]Al[/name_m]-lease.

I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f]/[name_f]Elyse[/name_f] (uh-lease) is a lovely name!

[name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Elyse[/name_f], I pronounce them the same.

Absolutely [name_f]Elise[/name_f].

I have a friend [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
I also have a friend [name_f]Alise[/name_f].

I’ve never heard a name pronounced ee-lease, so I think you’d be fine either way! [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] would both be Uh-lease to me.
