My favorite is by far [name_u]Skylar[/name_u]. It’s the only spelling I like and I find [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], although common as a combo, to be very pretty.
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u] and [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] are two totally different names where I live. It might depend on your accent, but [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] has a definite ‘R’ sound at the end, whereas [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] ends in more of an ‘uh’ sound.
That being said, I like [name_u]Skylar[/name_u], but in this case I’m picking [name_f]Skyla[/name_f]. I feel like the R at the end of [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] runs into the R at the beginning of [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I wouldn’t pick the last option because the Skylah spelling looks tacky to me.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] that [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is very popular as a middle, I assume that there are others [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. But it’s a pretty combo, if you don’t mind the popularity, I say go for it.
My favourite spelling is [name_f]Skyla[/name_f], but that’s just me being tedious because I am not a huge fan of names ending in -ar. I don’t think you could go wrong, but I’d avoid Skylah.
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is definitely my favourite. [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] looks a little like its missing a letter, and Skylah just looks made up to me.
There’s always [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] too, but I still prefer [name_u]Skylar[/name_u]
I have known a few Skylars, and I kinda like the more feminine looking [name_f]Skyla[/name_f]. [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is truly sweet!
I’m from the southeast, so to me [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] and [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] are two different names. I pronounce the -ar at the end. I have a cousin name [name_f]Heather[/name_f], but her name is pronounced “Heatha” with her [name_m]Boston[/name_m] accent. I say the -er at the end of her name.
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is beautiful. I’ve only seen three different spellings for the name, [name_u]Skylar[/name_u], [name_u]Skyler[/name_u], and [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]. [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] seems the most feminine to me so it’s my favorite. [name_u]Skyler[/name_u] seems more gender neutral, and [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] seems masculine to me. All three are gender neural and could go either way though.
My favourite spelling of the name is definitely [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] for a girl. For a boy, I prefer [name_u]Skyler[/name_u]. I like the name, too, especially with the nickname [name_u]Sky[/name_u].
[name_f]Skyla[/name_f] and [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] are two different names…that being said I like [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Beautiful! ([name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a popular middle name for a reason - it is simple, classic and goes with just about anything!)
If you pronounce [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] with the [r] –I would choose [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] as said by @vestigesofsummer.
In Australia –it would not be an issue! No /r/’s here.
Whichever you choose it is a really lovely name. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] compliments it beautifully and unless you wanted an unexpected rare second name – it’s just perfect.
Not entirely sure where you are from, but in the U.S. “[name_f]Skyla[/name_f]” with that spelling is actually the name of a contraceptive in the form of an IUD, like [name_f]Mirena[/name_f]. This may not be an issue by the time she grows up, but because of this I would pick [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] out of the three options. [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is stunning
Thanks for all the input! I’m so glad most like the name. Seems like its down to [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] or [name_f]Skyla[/name_f]. I’m in Australia so they are pronounced the same, just gotta work out what looks better. Thanks for your help!
I have trouble wrapping my head around [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] and [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] being pronounced the same (I’m Canadian so I say them differently). Either way, [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] looks more complete to me and [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] looks abbreviated or like someone mistyped [name_u]Skylar[/name_u]. Also [name_f]Skyla[/name_f] feels really cutesy to me in a way that [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] does not… so, I pick [name_u]Skylar[/name_u].
