I’ve noticed a lot of us show huge favoritism towards bestowing our kids (imaginary, expecting, and real) with two middle names. It made me wonder - say you lived some place where giving your baby more than a single middle name was illegal, how would it change your current combos?
Many of my combinations I found I wouldn’t even be content shortening so I would opt simply to erase them entirely. What would you change/shorten your names to? And how many would you do away with?
First of all, don’t make me write down this whole list because I love your style, especially Twila Aberdeen, Silvia Enid, Paloma Lux, July Solette, Elio Jerome, Cassian Ambrose, Roman Sylvester & Theon Abner!

I myself would/am planning to use two middles simply because I have two middles. In all actuality I tend to prefer one middle combos best and I know from experience (in the US) that your basically stripped down to one middle anyway so the other doesn’treally matter to anyone except your family. Becauae of this, the second middles I tend to tack on are usually mono-syllabic and nature related (also some honour names can be found there too), and while I love them and some do have strong personal significance, in most cases I would just drop it. Others, however, I also would just scrap if I couldn’t keep all three names.
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] → would become obsolete because I only like this particular combo as it is like this (also, I would only use [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] with [name_u]Dove[/name_u] and possibly only use [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] with them)
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_m]Melchior[/name_m] [name_m]Saint[/name_m] → again, obsolete because [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_m]Melchior[/name_m] doesn’t sound right and doesn’t keep the same significance without [name_m]Saint[/name_m]
[name_m]Damon[/name_m] [name_u]Denver[/name_u] [name_u]Wolf[/name_u] → I don’t like [name_m]Damon[/name_m] [name_u]Denver[/name_u] and I don’t like [name_m]Damon[/name_m] [name_u]Wolf[/name_u] so it would possibly become [name_m]Damon[/name_m] [name_u]Hezekiah[/name_u]
I would also probably be more inclined to completely forego honour names entirely without the extra middle spot to put them in
Thanks @missniwalyra! I love your [name_f]Ambrosia[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] (so exotic), [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Hazel[/name_u], [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_f]Leonor[/name_f], [name_u]Archer[/name_u] [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], [name_m]Fabiano[/name_m] [name_m]Alexei[/name_m], and [name_u]Miles[/name_u] [name_m]Colden[/name_m]. I dunno about you but my names felt naked without their second middle (with exceptions of course).
For example, [name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] [name_u]Aberdeen[/name_u] changing to [name_f]Twila[/name_f] [name_u]Aberdeen[/name_u] was fine. But Malèna [name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_u]Adair[/name_u], for instance, just was not going to work for me. I thought it was a bit of a trip to see a naked name lol and I wanted to get other people thinking
Most of the time I’d just use the first middle name because it carries more meaning, only [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] gets [name_f]Mary[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], because it’s the family name and because I think two Shakespearean names without any other names to balance them out may be a bit much.
Also, this would leave [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] to use with [name_f]Emma[/name_f] again, which is a combo I love.
I could probably do one middle for most of my combos, just because usually one flows better with the first than the other. Anyway, I think I’d go (there will be a few repeats):
Back in my earlier NameBerry days, I was a 2 middler with a different style, though my style is never consistent. Most are the imaginary kids from the teenberry thread, back when that was a thing. I went through old lists and so much nostalgia!
Oh dang. Since pretty much all my combos have honors in the middle, I would keep the honor names, although it would make me so sad to not use the other names. I’m just gonna do some of my top names cause I got way too many combos~
Fortunately I don’t actually have to worry about this, because having two middles is very common here. But if I for some reason could only use one middle name, my user card combos would be:
[name_f]My[/name_f] boys wouldn’t change at all. [name_f]My[/name_f] girls would change, but only because I’d actually have to settle on middles for them!
If I listed every name I liked I’d pretty much just be re-writing your list so I’ll stick with names that are newbies for me.
Estacia | I will be reading about this lovely in a bit
Lunaria | a hidden gem
[name_m]Gavriel[/name_m] [name_m]Amias[/name_m] | umm you combined these perfectly!
Where I live I can’t legally use more than one middle name expect if my partner if from another nationality so I don’t even bother to think about those beautiful combos with two middles cause I know I would love them and it would be hard to “get rid of them”
