what do you think of [name]Rory[/name] for a girl? Its such an uncommon name anyway does it really matter that its a boys name too? [name]Rory[/name] is one of my husbands favorites and it always comes up. I really like it too. Struggling to come up with a flowing middle name. All I can think of is [name]Rory[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] or [name]Rory[/name] [name]Kiera[/name] (prn key-air-uh). Any other ideas?
Personally, I think the given name [name]Rory[/name] is strictly for men. Mostly because it means “red king”. However, I like [name]Rory[/name] on a girl if it is a nickname for something. (like [name]Lorelei[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name] on [name]Gilmore[/name] Girls.) Some other options:
[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Bronwen[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name]
[name]Primrose[/name]
[name]Robin[/name]
[name]Rochelle[/name]
[name]Roxanne[/name]
[name]Sharon[/name]
[name]Veronica[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Deborah[/name]
[name]Dolores[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Norah[/name]
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Lenore[/name]
[name]Lorraine[/name]
[name]Morgaine[/name]
[name]Thora[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
okay so i hope some of these suggestions arent so boring for you!
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Anne[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Paige[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Gabrielle[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Noelle[/name]
I agree with sillyshelia about name like [name]Aurora[/name] or [name]Lorelai[/name] with the NN [name]Rory[/name]?
A friend of mine has a 1 year old little girl named [name]Rory[/name]! I think it’s totally cute! I love 1 sylable names.
I like the name [name]Rory[/name] for a girl - even though the only [name]Rory[/name] I know is a boy, I think [name]Gilmore[/name] Girls paved the way well enough.
As others have suggested, [name]Rory[/name] as a nickname would be a GREAT compromise, in my opinion. I love the name [name]Aurora[/name]. Also possibilities (I tried not to duplicate suggestions:)
[name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Auriel[/name]
[name]Ariel[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Sorrell[/name]
I have to agree with have [name]Rory[/name] as a nn. I love the name but I’m always worried about having short names.
I really like [name]Rory[/name] for a girl and wish DH would get on board! (Although I too would probably use it as a nn). I think [name]Rory[/name] was listed on the blog a few weeks ago as one of the almost evenly split unisex names, so I think it’s used just as much for girls as it is for boys. To me, the sound of it is not gender specific.
Possible middles for first name [name]Rory[/name]:
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Julianne[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Cynthia[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] [name]Savannah[/name]
I think rory is better for a nickname, but I’m not a big fan ( just mho) . If you want to spoil it for him there’s always the Teasing angle which can be dragged out for just about any name, but I found it effective.
Whorey [name]Rory[/name]
Lots of [name]Gilmore[/name] references
And the “it’s a boys name”
[name]Hi[/name] [name]Karen[/name]! You already have many great suggestions for middle names so I’ll just tell you what I think about [name]Rory[/name]. I really want to love this name on a girl but I just don’t. I do like it though and think it could definately work, I think [name]Pam[/name] has a daugher named [name]Rory[/name]. I have a male friend named [name]Rory[/name] (who is 22) and so maybe he is the reason why I associate the name as being so masculine. I think for your sibset you need a feminine (but not frilly) name to go with [name]Tess[/name] and [name]Kaia[/name]. My favourite is still [name]Ivy[/name].
PS [name]Rory[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] is a great combo
Good luck!
I think of [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a boy name, and I do think that with your other childrens’ names, [name_u]Rory[/name_u] might be confused for a boy. I was going to suggest a few names that could utilize [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a nn, but @sillysheila has already posted a perfectly wonderful list.
In 2013, [name_u]Rory[/name_u] ranked at #459 for boys and #903 for girls.
I honestly don’t see why people are so hard on the name [name_u]Rory[/name_u] for a girl. I think it’s a sweet name that can fit for all stages of life and if you name your babygirl that then it’ll all fall into place and it’ll fit her well. I know a few people who have used it for there girl and it’s the cutest name for them. I think people like to ruin names they don’t like for others without thinking, not everyone has the same likes and dislikes. Stick to the names you love.
Some middle name options:
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Rayne[/name_f], [name_u]Reign[/name_u], [name_u]Rain[/name_u]
For some reason, I can’t pronounce this name… like I know how it sounds but I can’t say it? I do like it, though! I think it’s more feminine! The only [name_u]Rory[/name_u] I know is a little girl. Because the name is R heavy, I’d use a lighter, more airy middle. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is a good choice.
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]

So many good suggestions for [name_u]Rory[/name_u] combos, so I’m just here to say that I think it totally works on a girl. The only [name_m]IRL[/name_m] [name_u]Rory[/name_u] I know was my little bestie in kindergarten (a girl), and I’ve always had a soft spot for the name!
I love [name_u]Rory[/name_u]! I get such pleasant imagery from it.
A fun, spunky little girl who can be rebellious.
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] just popped into my head.
If [name_u]Rory[/name_u] gives you a more “boy” vibe (which for me it totally doesn’t), what about [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] or [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u]?
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] is so sweet on a girl! I like it as a nn for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], but it works by itself too. If you both love it and keep coming back to it, then go for it!
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is lovely. I’m not a fan of [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], especially with that pronunciation of [name_f]Kiera[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about…
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
