Hunter

WDYT? Would you say it’s trendy?

I love the name [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], it sounds so handsome. I only know three of them, one who is about 20, one who is 12, and one who has just turned 2. It’s a great name - and trendiness isn’t always bad. Going off charts of ONS data, names like [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] are trendy in the UK - but they’re still gorgeous names. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]'s quite trendy in the US, and while it’s not my style, a lot of people still love it.

I’d consider it trendy, yes.

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] but maybe thats because I’m a vegetarian lol. I kind of think its trendy but its been popular for awhile so maybe not.

Well, it’s definitely fits in the trend of surname names ending in -er. I don’t know that it’s overly popular though. Personally I don’t like the surname trend and can’t get past the literal meaning of “one who hunts,” but I do find 2-syllable H names very masculine and solid. I just imagine a little boy named [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] would be well liked, you know?

I dislike it on the same bases as have been mentioned - I’m a vegetarian and even when I used to eat meat, I couldn’t imagine why someone other than maybe a major hunting enthusiast would name a baby [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]. Honestly I feel it sounds a bit predatory. I don’t know if it’s trendy exactly - it seems to have been around for a generation or so and it was never #1.

I’ve always liked it since [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] S [name_m]Thompson[/name_m]. I think it’s been popular for years and won’t slow down as it keeps up with the various trends. I met a little girl named [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] last year on the playground and it stopped me in my tracks.

When I was a kid, living in a small rural town, I met or heard of a few [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] baby boys. However I have never actually met an adult [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]. I think its a nice name, and not overly popular.

I think it’s on the down swing. More popular in the 1st decade of the century.
I actual met a 30 year old woman named [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] a few years ago…

I think it’s a very tired trend. I can’t tell you how many I know between 5 and 15. To me, I never liked it to start with, but now it just feels sad and done.

Nah. [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] to me is getting more popular but I still like it. It is too natural to turn into a [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] type name.

Personally, I dislike names that remind me of violence so I don’t like [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]. I think the name is in a strange place: it’s “dated” and “trendy” at the same time. Not many names have that dubious distinction.

I would say it was trendy in the 80’s-90’s. So it feels a bit dated to me, though not totally out of fashion or anything. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] seems to be the modern version.
