Huntley

What are your thoughts on [name_m]Huntley[/name_m] for a girl?
I love names like [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] and [name_u]Blair[/name_u], but they also seem really popular, so when I saw [name_m]Huntley[/name_m] on NB, I thought it might work!

Not at all a fan of this name for a boy or a girl. To me it sounds very awkward. But I can tell by other names on your list that my name preferences are quite different from yours, so grain of salt. [name_m]Even[/name_m] so, I much prefer [name_u]Piper[/name_u] or [name_u]Blair[/name_u]. Others definitely nms, with [name_m]Huntley[/name_m] my least favorite.

My measurement is often to ask myself if I would like to wear the name and in this case it is definitely a “No thank you.” The first thing that came to mind is the [name_m]Christian[/name_m] TV program, 100 [name_m]Huntley[/name_m] [name_m]Street[/name_m], and then the word hunt which I don’t think works well especially for a girl. If you really love it, it may possibly be okay in the middle spot.

I really dislike it. I also dislike [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] for girls AND boys for the same reason: the “hunt” root just makes me think of killing animals. [name_m]Huntley[/name_m] feels forced, and also sounds awkward out loud to me. The other names you listed are cute though.

Hmm, I kind of like it! It is interesting and quirky, and definitely feels more feminine than [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] does. Would you also consider [name_u]Hartley[/name_u]?

Not my favorite. I know of a few girls named [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] and [name_u]Harley[/name_u]. Still not my favorite, but I prefer them to [name_m]Huntly[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about

Sorry, not a fan. Really made up and masculine sounding, and I don’t see it aging well. :frowning: I like Piper or Harper a lot better.

Not a fan, sounds silly and awkward. I love [name_u]Blair[/name_u] though, I don’t really hear that name compared to the others.

Not a fan. An awkward sounding name in general, much more so on a girl.

I don’t care for names that have [name_m]Hunt[/name_m] in them because it makes me think of hunting animals. To be honest, [name_m]Huntley[/name_m] sounds like an English butler at a fox-hunting estate to me.

[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]

I’m not a fan. At all. It does fit with your style, though

I like [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] much better. What about just [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]? I’ve met 2 girls with the name, extremely masculine but it works.

Sorry, but this name sounds like a ‘grunt’. [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] is alright (although I personally don’t like it), but with [name_m]Huntley[/name_m], when I say it aloud it feels like all the emphasis is on the ‘unt’ part of the name, and it sounds really unpleasant.

It won’t age well

It’s a harsh name. I wouldn’t wanna be called it.

It reminds me of [name_m]Ian[/name_m] [name_m]Huntley[/name_m], the Soham murderer. He murdered 2 ten yr old girls back in 2002

I’m not a fan. It fits in with the abundance of ley/ly/lie/lee/leigh names that are trending now, but it has an unpleasant sound to me. It also makes me think of the slang word “hunty”. Your other names aren’t really my style but I think they’re all much nicer.

I actually went to a school in a country town called [name_m]Huntley[/name_m]. So I can’t see this suitable as a girl’s name. Sorry :frowning:

I’m pretty sure there is a female author called [name_m]Huntley[/name_m]. It’s not something I would use personally but I think it could work
