We aren’t finding out what we’re having, so we’re picking both beforehand. We’ve found a girl name we both loved right away but the boys names have been way harder. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband LOVES the name [name_u]Banks[/name_u] for a boy, and I like it a lot. But I’m not 100% sold - however this is the closest we’ve been to an agreement on the boys side.
Is it possible to love a name but just not for my kid?? Help!?
The middle name would be [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and last is Baehm (pronounced like ‘name’ with a ‘B’), so [name_u]Banks[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] Baehm.
Firstly, congratulations on your new addition! [name_u]Banks[/name_u] is very cool, but I totally get what you mean about it not feeling right for your own child! I also think [name_u]Banks[/name_u] Baehm is a bit of a tongue twister, but that might just be me. Maybe y’all would like:
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is that the boy in [name_f]Mary[/name_f] Poppins is named [name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_u]Banks[/name_u] but that may not be a prominent association for everyone. I agree [name_u]Banks[/name_u] Baehm is a bit clashy.
What about [name_m]Wells[/name_m], [name_u]Keats[/name_u], [name_u]Wilder[/name_u], [name_u]Bridger[/name_u], [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_m]Harris[/name_m]?
[name_m]Ah[/name_m] naming is soooooooo hard!!! Honestly I really struggled naming my daughter and I think it’s completely normal to struggle it’s a huge decision.
[name_u]Banks[/name_u] is cool very fashionable and I like the alliteration of [name_u]Banks[/name_u] with your surname. However you can definitely like a name but just not for your child. I experience that all the time as a name nerd I often gush about a name but would I personally name my child X no I wouldn’t I just love the name in theory. I think with [name_u]Banks[/name_u] you need to decide if you love [name_u]Banks[/name_u] to the point you would bestow onto your child.
Until you’ve made your mind up on [name_u]Banks[/name_u] I would look at other names probably with a similar feel and see if they work for you. Hopefully my suggestions make you smile and please count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
While [name_u]Banks[/name_u] is NMS I actually was pulling for this for you two until you mentioned the last name. The last name makes it come off as a tongue twister. Maybe if you’re good with the surname feel something like [name_u]Brooks[/name_u] would work better.
This is validating - I think the first + last name just doesn’t work. I’m not opposed to single syllable names, but I think the ‘bay’ sound on both is just too much for me.
Congratulations! Deciding on a boys name was so difficult for us too! I do really like [name_u]Banks[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] for you but I agree with a lot of other posters that [name_u]Banks[/name_u] Baehm is a bit too matchy. It takes away from [name_u]Banks[/name_u].
There were a lot of great suggestions already but I would like to add two to them.
Riggs-I know someone with a boy named [name_m]Riggs[/name_m] and I just love it. [name_m]Riggs[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] Baehm is chefs kiss.
Blaze-might be a bit out there but heard this from a celeb. I think it can be used for boys? It’s easy to say and easy to spell but is not common, just like [name_u]Banks[/name_u].
[name_u]Banks[/name_u] is a cool name, but if it doesn’t feel right, I’d say keep looking. Keep [name_u]Banks[/name_u] on the list while you explore other ideas to see if another clicks.
