Hyder vs Haider vs Hayder

There’s a bunch of spellings for this name (Hyder, Hydar, Haider, Haidar, Haydar, Hayder ect) but which one do you guys think looks the best? We’re Pakistani and see it spelt Hyder and Haider the most by people in our community but I’m not sure!

I like the look of [name_m]Haider[/name_m] best.

some thoughts on pronunciation

Where I am (UK) that may cause pronunciation difficulties with English-as-first language Brits saying hay as in a bale of hay (for all except Hyder and Hydar), but in the US I think the long i sound for ‘ai’ is the default - please correct me if I’m wrong, US Berries! Put this in a tab because of course I don’t know which country you are in and it may be irrelevant!

[name_m]Haidar[/name_m] or [name_m]Haider[/name_m] look best to me - though it might sometimes get pronounced with the HAY sound rather than the HIE sound? Still, I think people could get used to it.

I think it depends on the pronunciation you want. I would say hyder ( [name_m]Hi[/name_m] -der) but I would pronounce hayder Hey-der

I like [name_m]Haidar[/name_m] or [name_m]Haider[/name_m] the most! If [name_m]Haider[/name_m] is the most common in your community, I’d choose that one, it looks and sounds really handsome. To me they’re the most intuitive spellings, but I’m from mainland Europe so what’s intuitive to me won’t be the same if you live somewhere where they speak [name_f]English[/name_f]. Still, I think it would be easy to correct any mispronunciations!

The only ones I’d avoid are Hayder and Haydar – I think they’d be the most confusing in terms of pronunciation (depending on where you live, but definitely in English-speaking countries + most of Europe)

Haider looks best to me :sunny:
