Hyphenated first name?

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] girl is due in two weeks and we are toying with hyphenation her first name ([name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f]) but I don’t know the etiquette for it. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you still use a middle name? I am worried her full name would be too much of a mouthful.

For reference our last name sounds like Ko-peel

Any middle name suggestions to go with [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f]? Her nickname would be [name_f]Cece[/name_f] or [name_f]Cece[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is beautiful on it’s own and doesn’t need [name_f]Mae[/name_f], but it wouldn’t be too much of a hindrance to have the hyphenation. You could do a simple middle name like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], etc. but I wouldn’t go for anything too long.

You can have [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] as the first name and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as the middle name but still call her [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] all of the time. (I prefer this option)

Otherwise something like:
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]

I’m having the same question with one of my favorites. I think the hyphen is perfectly fine and would include a middle name. But I do think that [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] stands nicely on it’s own. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is adorable with [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] either hyphenated or as a middle name.

You can hyphenated a fn or just use two first names, its all really just which box you write it in, hyphenated I believe her initials would not include the name in the second part of the hyphenated name? But the child would not otherwise technically have a mn unless you add a separate one if the whole thing goes into the fn spot… I personally like long names and honestly I would use a two or three syllable middle, three ideally, the way it all breaks up with such a long fn you dont want to go like one one in the middle there if you really want it to flow unless you have a good reason. I think its nice all as a first, not a huge hyphenation fan but if you want to theres nothing wrong with that at all, theres lots of great options for middle names out there maybe something else classic like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ?

I’m not a fan of double barreled first names, especially when tied with a filler like [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], [name_u]Rae[/name_u] etc

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is enough. I would use [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as the middle name, even if you use two middles. I adore [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], and it kind of takes away from it to add a hyphenated name. I prefer names like [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] and Sallyanne to be combined into one, and dislike the use of hyphens in first names.
