I am only interested in names with nicknames ( personal reasons) and it has to start with an “A”
[name_m]Aiden[/name_m]: I love the name, however the nick name sucks…I don’t want to call my son Aids.
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]: Safe IMO and plenty of nicknames to choose.
I keep debating back and forth, please share your opinion on each name and your thoughts. Thank you.
If use of a nickname is a very important feature to you, then I would definitely stick with [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]!
Maybe [name_m]Aiden[/name_m] could go by “Denny” if you really needed a nn. Personally I’d also pick [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] with your requirements but if you’re not as excited about [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] in comparison to [name_m]Aiden[/name_m], maybe you’d like these A names with nickname options:
[name_m]Anders[/name_m] “andy”
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] / [name_m]Ashton[/name_m] “ash”
[name_m]August[/name_m] “gus, augie”
[name_f]Avery[/name_f] “ave”
[name_f]Arden[/name_f] “ardie, denny”

If having NN options is important then [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] would give you the most options: [name_m]Andy[/name_m], [name_m]Ander[/name_m], Ands, [name_m]Drew[/name_m], [name_m]Dre[/name_m], Rew etc.
[name_m]Aiden[/name_m] could be shorted to [name_m]Ade[/name_m], [name_m]Adi[/name_m] (prn, a-dee), [name_m]Den[/name_m], [name_m]Denny[/name_m] though so I wouldn’t rule out [name_m]Aiden[/name_m] purely because of the possible nn Aids.
[name_m]Aiden[/name_m] could be [name_m]Denny[/name_m]? But also, [name_m]Aiden[/name_m] (and all the names that rhyme, [name_m]Jayden[/name_m], [name_m]Braiden[/name_m], [name_m]Caden[/name_m], etc.) had a huge popularity boom like 10ish years ago so it feels overused and a bit dated to me. [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] feels much more classic and timless so I prefer that.
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] for nicknames’ sake! It’s a lovely and sturdy name.
(Not sure if this is a factor for you, but as a toddler teacher, I know a lot of young boys named [name_m]Aiden[/name_m]. So many. I’ve yet to meet an [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] their ages!)
[name_m]Aiden[/name_m] could be ‘Denny’ or an initial nickname like AJ
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is a solid choice and it sounds like you prefer the nicknames - and since that is an important part of your criteria it feels like the better option
We already have 3 AJ’s in our family’s combined. I think our families will give us looks if we added a 4th lol

I know an [name_m]Aidan[/name_m] and I don’t think he ever got called Aids, that’s probably not something you need to worry about it.
But if the name really needs to have a nickname, [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is the way to go. I like [name_m]Andrew[/name_m].
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is timeless and ageless, with great nicknames. Definitely a fantastic option.
A nickname for [name_m]Aiden[/name_m] could be [name_m]Denny[/name_m].
If you spelt [name_m]Aiden[/name_m] as [name_m]Aidan[/name_m], you could use [name_m]Dan[/name_m] or [name_m]Danny[/name_m] as a nickname.
But I agree with others that [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] seems like the way to go!
I like the nickname [name_m]Ace[/name_m] for [name_m]Aiden[/name_m], if you are open to that!
I agree that Aids is not a great nickname.
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] seems like your best bet! I love [name_m]Andy[/name_m], [name_m]Anders[/name_m] and [name_m]Drew[/name_m]!
But I also personally love [name_m]Aiden[/name_m] and I enjoy the pp’s suggestions of [name_m]Ace[/name_m] and [name_m]Denny[/name_m] for nns, or using the [name_m]Aidan[/name_m] spelling and using [name_m]Dan[/name_m] or [name_m]Danny[/name_m] as nns!
