I love [name]Merritt[/name] as a first name! (though spelled this way - maybe this will take away the association of the cigarette brand as well). I think it goes great with [name]Soloman[/name]. You may also like:
Merit is a really nice name…for a boy. I like more feminine names for a girl. If you like [name]Meri[/name], then use that. I love [name]Mary[/name] and think that would be a perfect match for [name]Solomon[/name].
oh I like the spelling of [name]Merritt[/name] double r and double t like that a lot.
I know Merit sounds boy-ish (sort of) but I like boy sounding names…with a girly nickname…I had also considered
[name]Davy[/name]
[name]Navy[/name]
and [name]Kyle[/name] for girls…
so I don’t mind it sounding a little masculine…my name is kelly (and although very popular for girls I was named after my father)
thank you for all the great suggestions…I will take as many suggestions as you can think of, considering my husband isnt as excited about my names as I am
[name]Davy[/name] is interesting. You might consider the spelling Daveigh. There is a model/actor/singer named Daveigh [name]Chase[/name] so i always find that spelling a little more feminine. You may also like [name]Davis[/name] (and i must again suggest [name]Mavis[/name] - i love this name!). Other unisex or boyish sounding names for girls you might like are:
[name]Spencer[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name]
[name]Reagan[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Dylan[/name]
[name]Avery[/name] (very similar to [name]Davy[/name] & [name]Navy[/name] - i really love [name]Avery[/name] for you!)
[name]Marley[/name]
[name]Carlisle[/name] (nn [name]Carly[/name] is super cute!)
[name]Indiana[/name]
[name]Shalom[/name]
[name]Seneca[/name]
I see [name]Merritt[/name] as a surname, but I guess using surnames as first names is getting popular. I actually think its cute, especially with the nickname [name]Meri[/name]. The cigarette brand thing isn’t an issue to me. Most people probably wouldn’t even notice. If you were using the name marlboro, then I could see it being a problem.
I love the suggestions of [name]Mavis[/name] and [name]Carlyle[/name]! Also, I think [name]Miller[/name] would be really cute.
[name]Solomon[/name] is my all time favourite name right now. Has been for a little while. I love it!
[name]Lucille[/name] - I think this sounds like a great sib set. [name]Lucille[/name] is such a classic and elegant name with good NN’s.
[name]Maeve[/name]
thanks you guys. I really love [name]Carly[/name] too only [name]Carlisle[/name] is a town in my city and one of my good friends lives there…too close…
also I love [name]Mavis[/name] but my best friends mom is named [name]Maeve[/name]…doesn’t that sort of sound like a name sake?
I love [name]Penelope[/name] thanks for reminding me its one of my favorites
I love names that have nick names…I call my son [name]Solomon[/name], Solo…(like as in one)
[name]Jemima[/name] reminds me of the syrup or the deep south
[name]Noah[/name]- this is great because my sisters daughter is named [name]Noa[/name]…
[name]Paloma[/name]- wow never really thought about this…doesn’t it sort of sound like Polenta?
I do like the thought of them all meaning the same thing…that is cool. and I am big into meanings…
I haven’t heard of [name]Jerusha[/name]…that’s very different!
I like Merit…I like the spelling [name]Merritt[/name] better, but I like it. If the connection to cigarette company bothers you [name]Maren[/name] might be another good option.
