Agree with the fellow berries as a first name it’s just a no for me as a pet name could definitely work and I like the suggestions of a formal name already given especially [name_f]Freya[/name_f] & [name_f]Francesca[/name_f].
How about calling her [name_f]Freyga[/name_f] (Norse name) with the nickname Froggy? (It’s pronounced as it’s spelt ) or Froggia (Italian city) or simply do a name with a nickname like:
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] Giani ?
[name_f]Florencia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]?
[name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] ?
Froggy may be cute for a child but she would be an adult one day and that would be a hard moniker to carry. Have you considered [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], Augustana, [name_u]Augustine[/name_u] nicknamed [name_m]Auggie[/name_m]? It rhymes with Froggy but ages better. If not I really like the suggestions from previous posters. [name_m]How[/name_m] about…
For nickname [name_m]Auggie[/name_m]:
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_u]Finch[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
Augustana [name_f]Bee[/name_f]
For nickname Froggy:
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] Augustana
[name_f]Fern[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_u]Augustine[/name_u]
Sounds like Froggy:
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Florrie[/name_f]
[name_f]Peggy[/name_f]
Um, have you spent time in a classroom of small humans lately?
Froggy could work as a pet name but will definitely not age well. Maybe try another F name like other users have suggested?
For a nickname only. I think it would be a very bad idea in real life. One of my name rules is to put your child name in front of professions like [name_u]Doctor[/name_u] or [name_m]Judge[/name_m] or Senator, and if it sounds out of reach then try for something else. Froggy is cute for a child’s pet name when they’re little, but certainly not a real given name. That would be quite unfair to the child to officially name them Froggy. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] or [name_u]Francis[/name_u] or [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]. And use Froggy as a family nickname.
I’m sorry, Froggy just really doesn’t work. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] introducing yourself in high school— “[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I’m Froggy.” It’s just unusable.
Just imagine Froggy in science class having too dissect a Froggy for a grade and then the jokes and torment afterward would be even worse than before.
yes, and in my school people don’t generally bully others. I am in high school. I think it depends on school district whether kids are nice or mean. Teachers are quite strict about name calling in my school
Phryne! [name_u]Nick[/name_u] name ‘Froggy’ ? As an idea
I personally can’t see as a first name. Maybe a pet name, or nickname that she can grow out of and use her full name in place of it, when she feels she’s too old for Froggy.
Francine or [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], nickname Froggy…?
Use it as an affectionate name when she’s born, and just see how people react to it…
I would not liked to be named Froggy. What’s your first daughters name?
I’m a huge frog lover! I’ve owned an African bullfrog, I have a Pacman frog tattoo, I’ve caught and released frogs many times. That being said, I would not name my kid Froggy. Think about it this way:
- Would you want to have someone question your passport, birth certificate, or other official papers because of your name?
- Would you want to have to introduce yourself as “Froggy” to people who don’t know you, especially when you’re a kid?
- Would you want to have to have your teacher or substitute read out your name on the first day of class, and be confused if it’s your real name or not?
- Most Importantly!!! Would you want to apply to jobs with the name “Froggy?” And keep in mind, even if she ends up going as something else when she’s an adult, she’ll still have to hand over the name “Froggy” on her official paperwork. I can guarantee you employers will toss out her resume, whether they think it’s a joke, they think she’s not serious enough, or they don’t want it on her name tag at work. Bias in this area is certainly a real thing.
You may not know this, but froggy is a slang term as well. From urban dictionary: “Most commonly it refers to situations involving fighting or violence.” It can also mean you’re feeling like being sensual (I’m using this phrasing as I don’t want to be explicit but definitely imply explicit meaning here), or you’ve just used drugs/alcohol and are intoxicated, but mainly it means you want to fight or hurt someone. For this reason, I would caution even using it as a nickname.
Great name for a pet, maybe even a nickname if you don’t mind people associating it with the slang meaning, but as a given name? Absolutely not.
I think Froggy sounds like a really cute nickname, but would be a little difficult as a full first name - I’d go for something that has the same starting sound like [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Frederica[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], etc.
