So I am in love with these baby names. when i tell them to anyone they give me funny looks. My fiance likes the girl name alot. I like both of them. We are trying to come up with another boy name. We did have [name_m]Landon[/name_m] picked out but that is another child is his family with that name and i dont want to use the same name. I like really different names. So I have …
I really do like your girls name. The boy name, like a few other names I know, would probably grow on me. I like the strange names too. If you like Ansehen, Maybe [name_m]Ansel[/name_m]?
Elselynn is really pretty! Elselynn [name_f]Paige[/name_f] is a really pretty combo as well. I’m not feeling it with Ansehen. It look and sounds a bit off. Maybe [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] or [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] instead?
Elselynn is a beautiful name! Ansehen not so much. It’s a [name_m]German[/name_m] word, right? The meaning is nice, but it sounds very harsh. I’d suggest giving [name_m]Anselm[/name_m], [name_m]Armand[/name_m], or Asheton a try.
Not a fan of the girl name. I was going to suggest [name_m]Anson[/name_m] for a boy, but [name_m]Anson[/name_m] Hankins doesn’t sound good. [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] and [name_m]Anselm[/name_m] were good ideas.
Honestly, as a teacher, I can tell you that I would have no idea how to pronounce these names. I tried saying them out loud and got Ez-leh-lin and As-neh-han.
I think the girl name is pretty, but with either one I think you will be dealing with people not knowing the correct pronunciation all the time, for a long time. If that doesn’t bother you, then that’s that but it’s something to consider. I like the idea of [name_m]Ansel[/name_m]! I love that name, wish I could use it.
If you and your fiancé love the names, use them! What are people’s objections? Pronunciation, uncommonness? Maybe you could spell your girl’s name with the hyphen, just like you do when explaining to us how it’s spelled. I think you’d still get some “Elsalynn,” or “Elzlynn,” but it’s not the end of the world.
As for Ansehen, funny that you’re thinking of using a [name_m]German[/name_m] word as a name. My partner and I are playing around with Radler, which is a) the [name_m]German[/name_m] word for bicyclist, and b) a kind of mixed beer drink. I understand the concern about using a non-name as a name, but hey, think about all the names like [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] (originally an occupation/title) or [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] (originally a color); they became names when parents used them as such. I like other users’ suggestions of [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] and [name_m]Anselm[/name_m] if you want a similar sound, and I suggest the [name_m]French[/name_m] name [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] for the same reason. However, I couldn’t come up with anything that shared the exact meaning.
Again, go for it if those are the names that make your heart sing. Let the naysayers name their own children.
I think Elselynn is pretty, but I don’t like Ansehen. [name_m]Scott[/name_m] is cool, but Ansehen sounds too femenine. I think [name_m]Anselm[/name_m] are better ideas.
I kind of like Azazel also for a boy . but to me that is a girls name even though its a boys name. maybe because it makes me think of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] when i say it kind of. its a biblical name this one is. I dont know how Azazel Hankins sounds together though.
