I need a country-ish girls' name with the same feel as "Jolene"

I’ve been calling my main character [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] but I’ve decided to change it for various reasons. I need something with the same sort of feel–not to be insulting to anyone named [name_f]Jolene[/name_f], which I think is actually a very pretty name, but it definitely has a hick-ish sort of connotation and I’m looking for something with the same connotations. It would be great if the name could be shortened in the same way that [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] could be shortened down to [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. Any thoughts are welcome! Thanks.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]- You can shorten it to [name_u]Jo[/name_u]. Also you can try some slight variations like [name_f]Josefina[/name_f]. It was popularized ALONG time ago by [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u]'s [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women. To me this is a perfect answer for the nickname criteria but not the country style name. You should try [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] though!
[name_u]Courtney[/name_u]- This name has a country feel. It may be hard to shorten but it definitely feels like a perfect replacement for [name_f]Jolene[/name_f]. You can try slight variations such as [name_f]Kourtney[/name_f]. It is also very popular especially considering [name_f]Kourtney[/name_f] Kardashian. The original, [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], still may be a better choice.
[name_u]Kendall[/name_u]- This southern/country name has been slightly popularized by singer/dancer [name_u]Kendall[/name_u] K Vertes. It may have few nicknames, unless [name_m]Ken[/name_m], Dally, [name_m]Doll[/name_m], happen to fit your criteria. It also has a very country touch, which I feel is very important.
[name_m]Houston[/name_m]- This boy/unisex name is named after a Texan city so it’s DEFINITELY a country name. It has limited nicknames but it has a feel that I feel is necessary for your character’s name. This may be a perfect choice for a boy where the nicknames [name_m]Huey[/name_m], Uston, or [name_m]Stan[/name_m] can come in to play.
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]- It’s simplified all ready so no need for a nickname! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it was slightly popularized by Disney’s Descendants it’s cute, short, hip and has a slight (VERY SLIGHT) country feel to it.
[name_u]Joan[/name_u]- This name is another variation of [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] just with an [name_f]ANN[/name_f] instead of a [name_f]LENE[/name_f]. [name_u]Jo[/name_u] would also be a good nickname. Not only that it has a country feel. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though this meets the criteria you may feel it’s not THE name. So [name_f]Joann[/name_f], [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] take a role here if [name_u]Joan[/name_u] isn’t perfect.
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]- This gorgeous name is popular because of beauty and the beast BUT it still has a “southern belle” feel to it. Also it’s short enough to be nickname free! So this may be a good pick.

Okay I know I go a little crazy with this advice but I hope you like my advice here and chose one of the names on the list. Thank You!!!

[name_f]Valerie[/name_f] ‘[name_u]Val[/name_u]’

Names I would consider having a similar vibe:

[name_f]Dulcet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]

Mostly, these are names I’ve seen/heard around my small hometown.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Twyla[/name_f] or [name_f]Dixie[/name_f]?

[name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u], called [name_u]Shay[/name_u]
