I was looking over some old baby name lists. In 2001 during my first pregnancy I had a handful names and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] was on the list. In 2003 during my second pregnancy I had 5 names and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] was on the list. I remember in 2008 during my 4th pregnancy [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] was in the final two. Once again [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is on my short list. I think it sounds terrific with my last name and works well with all my kids’ names. And clearly it’s not a passing fancy. In the past my combo was [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. But in the past few years I’ve delved into the world of baby names and I realized that [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is many, many people’s combo of choice. So I need some other ideas. DH tends to veto everything. He does like [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] but I’m not sure if I like the repeating “ar” in that combo. He also liked [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f] those he pronounces it differently than I would.
What do you think of:
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Roselle[/name_f]
Well I am a bit partial to [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], as my totally adorable two yo has that name I love the name [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]! Let’s see:
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
I am a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], and I really didn’t like it because it was so common in the 80s/90s. My middle name is [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], so basically I was a walking billboard for the era. There were so many of us! (Not to mention that I was called ‘[name_f]Buffy[/name_f]’ for the entirety of my 7th grade year) I have basically gone by my first name and last initial my whole life. There are a ton of us!
So my suggestion is to give your daughter an uncommon middle name, so at least she has something unique to fall back on! There should be something special to make her feel like she’s not one of the crowd.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]? It was a combo on my list a long while ago, and it seems to have the same charm of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], but a little less expected. I find it really pretty, but I’m probably biased.
I sort of like the idea of alliteration with [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], too (although that might be too hissy with your surname?)–[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], etc.?
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I particularly loved [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], [name_f]Maureen[/name_f], and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. I emailed my hubby to see what he thinks. I really hope he likes [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] as I had wanted a [name_u]Marian[/name_u] middle name but had given up.
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is terrific and would be on my list for sure, but of course one of my daughters in named [name_f]Katharine[/name_f].
[name_f]One[/name_f] of my in-laws is named [name_f]Sara[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], for her grandmothers, and I think it’s gorgeous. I also really like [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] with your other children’s names, and [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f] would be nice too.
