I need a name that matches the year they were born

I have a character named [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], who was born in 1993. I’ve been thinking lately that his name doesn’t match up with the year he was born. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any suggestions, or should I just keep his name?

I wouldn’t worry about it too much! Name popularity doesn’t indicate too much. Parents might go for retro or vintage names, or try to go futuristic or fantasy. It does depend on his parents though.

i don’t think it’s too big of a deal, as his parents may have grown up with other wilburs. maybe it was an honor–his grandfather’s name?
however, if you still want an alternative name, my suggestion would be to go to this website: LINK, (it’s the SSA name data) and if it’s not already entered, put in the birth year. that should give you names appropriate to the era. <3

The charlottes web film came out in 1973 so it could be easy to understand [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] on a 90’s kid. I would think [name_u]Michael[/name_u] or [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] would be an easy 90s swap however.

Depends on what you are looking for. A generic, expected name? It’s not [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]. Any name that happens to suit him? Sure! There are many people with names that don’t match their era.

Agree with everyone previously! UwU

If it bothers you, just make it a family name.
Ex. “Yeah… Wilbur’s a family name. Its been in the family for generations and I’m just keeping it going.”
