I Need Help Choosing a Name for a Girl Due in November!

Hey guys! My bestfriend is having a girl in [name_u]November[/name_u] and she has a list of baby names but doesn’t fell like she can find the right one. I thought I could help her out by asking for some suggestions and opinions from you guys? She gave me permission to do this by the way. Her list so far is:

[name_f]Yvette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f]
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Chantal[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]

Please give your honest opinions about these names & suggestions as well. I just really want to help out my friend. Thanks so much!

(By the way, she really wants to make [name_f]Sue[/name_f] or [name_f]Marie[/name_f] the middle name because it passes on in her family. But she would also be fine with having a different middle name)

It’s hard to say without knowing a little more about your friend-- what kind of image she wants to convey, etc. I will tell you how closely they align to my own tastes, though.

[name_f]Yvette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]- I think this is pretty and would expect an [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] to be a sophisticated, intelligent, possibly African American young woman. I wouldn’t use it though, because I don’t like unintuitive spellings (even super common ones like [name_m]Sean[/name_m]!). And “y” is such a tricky letter, it will always be unintuitive…
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] - super cute. I picture a mischievous little redhead with freckles.
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] - my favorite, and could belong to many different kinds of women. There is a hippie vibe because of the meaning, but it’s a well-established name. I really like the flow.
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - although it sounds pretty, [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is definitely a masculine name for me, and it has a sad meaning. I don’t like this one.
[name_f]Chantal[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - definitely picture an African American woman. I like the meaning (if I remember it right), but it doesn’t feeling like a very distinctive name to me.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] - I just think of [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], and I don’t enjoy the name on its own; it doesn’t have a pretty sound for me ears.

So my favorites are [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f]?

thanks for the feedback! I will ask her about [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f]. That actually sounds really cute.

[name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] (rose-mah-ree) would be really cute, plus it lets her have both [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sue[/name_f] in the name! The nickname could be [name_f]Ro[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Ree[/name_f], or even [name_u]Rory[/name_u]!

[name_u]Rowen[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] just sounds awkward to me, like the flow is off.

I think [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] would be a nice way to incorporate [name_f]Marie[/name_f], since it holds special meaning to your friend.

Hey!
These names are all so different…
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] would be my favourite but none of them really jumped out at me (Which is FINE as my taste is definitely not the be all or end all)!!
I agree that [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is lovely and that would be my favourite. I used to [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_u]Rory[/name_u] but not as much now.
[name_f]Maeva[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] has that spunky vibe she appears to be after but still feminine…

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Yvette[/name_f], nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Chantal[/name_f]
[name_f]Susette[/name_f] [name_f]Mariana[/name_f]

[name_f]Yvette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - lovely and classic
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] - give her a full name instead of a nickname her entire life, try [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] or Loreli
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] - trendy & soon to be dated
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - just ok, the only one i knew was a girl but i still feel its more of a boys name
[name_f]Chantal[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - stripper name:/ its a ‘im trying too hard to be elegant or exotic’ name and ends up just feeling cheap
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] - still too soon after [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], but [name_m]WAY[/name_m] better than [name_f]Willow[/name_f] or [name_f]Chantal[/name_f]

[name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_u]Rory[/name_u] for a girl! I do know a male name [name_u]Rory[/name_u], so it is unisex but its a great name either way! [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is my pick!

[name_f]Yvette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - I [name_f]Love[/name_f], [name_f]Love[/name_f] this combo (my number 1 pick of them all)
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] - [name_f]Pleasant[/name_f] name (#3)
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] - never liked this name and I find it to be trendy
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - I am not a fan of guys names on girls
[name_f]Chantal[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - I really like the name [name_f]Chantal[/name_f] and find that it is underused (#2)
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] - too soon after HP to use

(I usually just pick my fave as not everyone has the same naming style, but you asked for my opinion of the names so I gave it)

I only really like [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] out of these. I like the suggestion of [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] though.

I really love [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f].

[name_f]Yvette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]- I <3 this one!
Rory Sue- I don’t really like Rory unless it’s for a nn, like an Aurelia or Aurora could be called Rory.
Willow Sue- I love Willow, but I think it would sound more elegant as Willow Marie
Tristan Marie- Tristan is far too masculine
Chantal Lee- I’m not quite sure how to pronounce it, but I do like the name Chantal :).
Hermione Ann- Two words. Harry Potter. Also, the middle name Ann is too short. It looks stunted. I personally like Anne better, because it looks more elegant. (no, my name is not Anne. =D)

Thanks for all of the good advice everyone! I showed my friend what you all said and she really appreciates all of your help. She is officially choosing either [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f] or [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f], but she feels torn because she loves them both. What do you guys like better?

P.S. she’s also thinking about the name Kanani.

I like [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] better… but I agree those are both fine choices.
Congratulations to your friend
