Not 100% yet. But DH was leaning towards [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and I was leaning towards [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] when suddenly we had a revelation about [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. It matches [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] in style, has a million nicknames ([name_u]Scout[/name_u], [name_f]Letty[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u]), and is super cute. We were both suddenly like ‘ok, [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is perfect!’ It is hard to think about the other two names going to waste, as this will probably be our last. But who knows it may be a boy and all the names may go to waste anyways!
So… [name_m]Just[/name_m] trying to think of middles now! [name_f]Cora[/name_f] may be a possibility but it doesn’t flow very well. We had planned on using [name_f]Louise[/name_f] with [name_f]Cora[/name_f], so [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Elouise[/name_f] or [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] are possible ([name_f]Letty[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]).
Also, DH and I both have ‘s’ names, so would it be weird to have 3 of us with ‘s’ names and [name_u]Jem[/name_u] be left out? That’s my only drawback here.
I like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] the best! [name_f]Letty[/name_f] and [name_f]Letty[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] are adorable nicknames! I agree that [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] are a good match. The 3 S’s and one J isn’t a deal breaker to me. You can always add a pet with a different letter to balance out your names on holiday cards! j/k
I like the name [name_f]Cora[/name_f], but [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f] really doesn’t flow well at all, in my opinion. I’d personally nix that one.
I love [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] but I think it’s too close to [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] for my comfort. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is gorgeous, but someone in our family recently used [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I think I’m leaning towards [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] right now. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is to die for, but DH doesn’t like it
hi there!
Congratulations on making a step forward on your naming journey.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought (incase you didn’t know/hadn’t considered)
If your son has the NN [name_u]Jem[/name_u] I would steer clear of the nickname [name_u]Scout[/name_u] for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]- or the middle [name_f]Louise[/name_f]/[name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
The siblings in To Kill a Mockingbird are [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Jem[/name_u]’ and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] ‘[name_u]Scout[/name_u]’.
If you used [name_u]Scout[/name_u] or the middle [name_f]Louise[/name_f]/a I would assume that you had just named your children after these characters when you have totally different reasons.
There are plently of good NNs for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and lots of lovely middles for you to sidestep this association if you would like.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that didn’t come across too negative - just think you should know the association before settling on a choice.
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] make a great pair.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] (feels to me like a mix of [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f])
I think [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is perfect for you and your family! [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] truly sound great together!
I voted for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] on one of your previous threads and it is still my favorite with [name_u]Jameson[/name_u].
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] seems like it has better flow than [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] or [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
Great! I still love [name_f]Cora[/name_f] too, but [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] are perfect together! All 3 middle variations sound good, but my order of pref is
Thank you all, you guys have been incredibly helpful!
As for the ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ reference… It is on purpose! Not TOTALLY on purpose. I so badly wanted a literary reference name (was loving [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m], [name_m]Tennyson[/name_m], [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]) but DH hated them all. We settled on [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], and I realized I could call him [name_u]Jem[/name_u]- To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favorite books! Same with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]- we liked the name and then I realized she could be [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. In all honesty [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] has a thousand other nicknames he goes by, and DH and I would likely call [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Letty[/name_f] or [name_u]Kit[/name_u] before [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. I just like that the options are there, I think it’s cute.
The reason I’m leaning towards the [name_f]Louise[/name_f] variations is because it’s a family name on both sides. [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is also a family name but i don’t particularly like the sound of the name. Though it does pair wonderfully with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].
I’m still not 100%. I feel sad to leave [name_f]Cora[/name_f] behind, but I also feel like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] just ‘fits’ better.
Does everyone think the one ‘j’ amidst three ‘s’ s is ok?
I think having only one J among all S’s is okay. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it crossed my mind, I don’t think it wouldn’t bother me enough to eliminate a name that I loved.
I like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] the best, so pretty! But it depends on whether [name_f]Louise[/name_f] or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] flows best with your last name.
