I have a dusty and overused name that everyone”s grandmother, mother, aunt, sister, cousin or beloved pet cow has.
[name]Patricia[/name] [name]Ann[/name].
To me, it”s bland, uninspired, unimaginative–however you would like to put it!
I admit, I am rather bitter over the name. I’m the third to be given it within my cousins alone.
I feel no ownership of it, and I want to change that. No one likes being called someone else”s name!
I know that you all have the best taste around when it comes to names. So, I have come to you all for help.
I need a new first name.
My only requirements are that the name goes with [name]Patricia[/name] as a middle name and with my surname, [name]Howard[/name]. Otherwise, go crazy! Well, not too crazy, nothing made up, please.
I am certain that those requirements are not too much trouble for your alls creative genius.
Thank you all so much for any input or suggestions.
Also, I was not 100% on where to put this topic, so I put it here. I’m so sorry if I’m on the wrong board for this.
Well, I just want to weigh in that I think [name]Patricia[/name] is a beautiful, classic, now underused gem with a cool mid-century vibe. I think in a few years, [name]Patricia[/name] will be very au currant when the antique names start getting stale and snappy names from the 50’s gain traction. It is on my list for a new baby girl. [name]Just[/name] my two cents!
When I read “Name that Sparkles” I immediately thought of [name]Felicity[/name].
Not sure it meets your requirements about going wtih [name]Patricia[/name], but given your easy/common last name I think its a good balance.
I don’t think [name]Patricia[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is that bad actually but since you share it with other family members it’s understandable that you would feel the need for a change. Here goes!
Frankly, seems impossible to suggest a name to a grown up! I feel like – Hey! You are the one who wants a new name! Choose one! I somehow doubt anyone else can help with so personal decision. My sparkle might be your fuddy-duddy. Someone else’s sparkle might be your “screams hooker.”
These are a few names I like. I have no idea if they will “sparkle” for you. (I like [name]Patricia[/name]. Be forewarned.)
[name]Diantha[/name] (My perpetual favorite that has never caught on. More statuesque than sparkly?)
[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Lacey[/name] (Okay, more lacey than sparkly.)
[name]Mamie[/name] ([name]Ever[/name] since [name]Meryl[/name] Streep gave this to her daughter it has seemed to me at once upbeat and glamous, perhaps because Streep is all that.)
[name]Mercedes[/name] (Shines more than sparkles.)
[name]Lucia[/name] (From light, what could be more sparkly than that?)
Oh, a challenge! I can understand why you’d be upset with your name–it’s a little too common. It’s not a bad name, by any means, but a little too worn.
There’s no rhyme nor reason to these names I’ve picked, they’re just interesting names I’d like to see more people have.
I like [name]Patricia[/name], but I’m not in love with it. Let’s find a sparkly name. I don’t know if all of these will work for you, but I’ll give it a shot.
I love [name]Alice[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Gwyneth[/name] and [name]Margo[/name].
I was born in [name]June[/name]. My username is actually my birth date.
I tend to like names that are more cozy but still rather stylish. For instance, my dogs names are [name]Sasha[/name] and [name]Maribel[/name].
Hmm… Here is where I tend to clam up, I always have difficulties when trying to describe myself or my personality. (Does that count as a personality trait?)
I’m happy and I love anything that makes me happy. I love to laugh and enjoy time with others. I definitely love talking.
I’m caring, particularly so when it comes to animals, children or the elderly.
I could spend hours upon hours in a book or shoe store and never realise it. It’s a favorite past time.
I love gardens and nature, but have “black thumbs”. Seriously, I actually killed a cactus…
For fun growing up I would read the encyclopedia. I have a passion for learning new and interesting things, but I become bored easily with new subjects.
That’s about all I can think of right now. If you’d like to know anything else just ask!
Okay, ‘clam up’ was the wrong phrase. It’s just not easy!
I can see your issue with suggesting names to an adult. Choosing a name is a very personal decision, and solely mine to make. But there is no harm in finding out what others think sounds good!
Also, [name]Rosalind[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name] are lovely
[name]Mischa[/name], I love your suggestions of [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], [name]Verity[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name], [name]Linnea[/name], Normandie. A few of these I would have never thought to pair with [name]Patricia[/name]. I would have missed out!
[name]Leticia[/name] and [name]Patience[/name] remind me of [name]Patricia[/name], though they obviously wouldn’t work with [name]Patricia[/name] as a middle name (well, maybe unless you use the Spanish pronunciation for [name]Leticia[/name]…). Also, I second the idea of trying an [name]Anne[/name] name so that you still kind of have your old name, but in reverse.
