Ida

What do you all think about [name_f]Ida[/name_f]? And if the pronunciation is “ee-da” does that make it too hard in the US?

I love it, both the eye-da and the ee-da pronunciation. It’ll likely be assumed as the former, but it’s an easy correction!

I instinctively pronounce it ee-dah but that’s because [name_f]English[/name_f] is not my first language. I reckon it’d usually be eye-dah but as mentioned above, it can easily be sorted out by correcting people

Ida is one of my very favorite girl names! I pronounce it eye-da, but ee-da is pretty as well. While in the US eye-da is the default pronunciation, it’s an easy correction!

I knew an [name_f]Ida[/name_f] who pronounced it ee-da, and I’m pretty sure it was fine. You should go for it!

It’s my favorite girl name rn! I’d definitely pronounce it eye-dah. I think if you want ee-dah go with the [name_f]Eda[/name_f] spelling

I’d pronounce it eye-da (I’m American) but it’s an easy correction!

Id vote spelling it such that she won’t spend her entire life correcting people’s pronunciation of her name.

  • Eda
  • Aida (ah-ee-da)

I have never heard Ee da so I think it would confuse people. It reads as eye da and that’s the common way so to avoid confusion Id just go with eye da unless you want to spell it [name_f]Eda[/name_f]. Otherwise it will be confusing

I’ve seen what people are saying about how nobody would understand the pronunciation, but… I grew up with an [name_f]Ida[/name_f] (ee-da) and everything was fine for her. I think you’ll be alright.
