We just found out that we’re having another girl (I’m so pleased but we’re a bit stuck on a name, we like a couple but no agreement as yet.
Our other girls are [name]Alyssa[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name] so we’d like a name that complements them, though doesn’t necessarily have to end in ‘a’, but a lot of my favourites do!
Possibilities so far
[name]Thea[/name] (my fave but worried everyone will mis-hear as [name]Theo[/name] which maye get annoying lol)
[name]Lara[/name] (hubbys fave)
Also been suggested
[name]Lana[/name]
[name]Ciara[/name] (kee-ar-ra hubby likes this too but I’m not keen!)
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name] - (I love this name, just including as an example but we don’t want any more A or F names to avoid confusion later on and also to strengthen name individuality)
Surname is double-barrelled so thinking now that 2 syllables is probably best but definitely no more than 3 as the others)
We would like a slightly unusual name but nothing too out-there! We’re British and while I still love the name [name]Alyssa[/name] it isn’t well known here and we have had and continue to have every mis-pronounciation and mis-spelling under the sun haha!
I like the suggestions of [name]Geneva[/name] (I like [name]Genevieve[/name] even better), [name]Lydia[/name] and I like [name]Cora[/name] from your list.
[name]Kira[/name], [name]Keira[/name], [name]Kyra[/name], [name]Theadora[/name], [name]Thora[/name], [name]Clara[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Claire[/name]?
I really love [name]Lana[/name] the most!
I love the name [name]Francesca[/name]! I’m considering it for my new daughter! [name]How[/name] do people like it?
And on your names:
[name]Thea[/name]- I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Thea[/name]. However, it does sound like a nickname to me. Maybe [name]Dorothea[/name]? I don’t know, I do think it could pass as a full name though. Wouldn’t worry about the [name]Theo[/name] thing.
[name]Lara[/name]- I like [name]Lara[/name], but I don’t think it goes well with [name]Alyssa[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name].
[name]Lana[/name]- I love the name [name]Lana[/name], but I don’t think a lot of people do? I could be wrong though. I think it’s so pretty and feminine.
[name]Ciara[/name]- I don’t like it because everyone would call her Cee-air-a. Maybe [name]Keira[/name] would be better?
[name]Cora[/name]- [name]Love[/name] [name]Cora[/name] and think it’s the best choice to go with your other girls.
[name]Matilda[/name] - but hubby doesn’t
[name]Genevieve[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] this name but [name]Alyssa[/name]'s middle names are [name]Jenna[/name] [name]Rose[/name] so the sound is too similar…and again he doesn’t like it!
[name]Lara[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] - nice but rather a lot of 'a’s plus surnames begin with an L then an M and the ‘laid’ sound doesn’t fit sigh
[name]Kira[/name] - like this but it’s the cats name hehe
Also like names like
[name]Liliana[/name]
[name]Eliana[/name]
etc but just wondering if the ‘ana’ ending names will sound too pretentious with two surnames, they are pretty though
On [name]Francesca[/name] I think everyone has said they like it, it’s definitely been easier than with [name]Alyssa[/name] which people here aren’t familiar with but while uncommon [name]Francesca[/name] isn’t too out there.
I’m still really liking [name]Thea[/name] and hubby is on the [name]Lana[/name]/[name]Lara[/name] side so not won that one yet! Hopefully soon!
As for middle names there are loads I love, too many to mention but at the moment I have [name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Willow[/name] in my head - also subject to agreement lol (agreement being IF we ever had a boy in the future that we consider using one of hubby’s names as a middle name, I think that makes it fair, my name has really grown on me over the years so quite like the idea of using it as a middle.)
Our other girls are [name]Alyssa[/name] [name]Jenna[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Grace[/name] so you can probably sense a pattern forming
I think [name]Lara[/name] goes perfectly with [name]Alyssa[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name]! I also like [name]Thea[/name], [name]Lana[/name], and [name]Cora[/name].
Would you guys consider a compromise idea - maybe go with [name]Eliana[/name] but use [name]Lana[/name] as a nickname? I also loved the way [name]Stella[/name] went with [name]Alyssa[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name]. [name]Thea[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Willow[/name] does sound lovely, though.
So many lovely names, though as usual my other half is being rather un-cooperative! haha My sis suggested [name]Bethia[/name] which I thought was great, nice and unusual and she could be [name]Beth[/name] or [name]Thea[/name] then but nooooo he thinks it’s silly and that I’m making up names just for the sake of getting a name ending in A lol men eh! It’s actually an Old Testament name which is interesting.
Anyway, always liked [name]Eliana[/name], really pretty, but unsure of having two girls names that start with similar sounds [name]Aly[/name] and [name]Eli[/name]? [name]Stella[/name] is sadly a no-go, I’ll just say I know a militant community nurse of that name who scares bfing mums on a regular basis eeeek! LOL
He is still rooting for [name]Lara[/name] or [name]Lana[/name] and I’m still very lukewarm on them. His problem with [name]Thea[/name] is it makes him think of the name [name]Anthea[/name] and an 80’s childrens tv presenter! Maybe I should broaden my horizons and not just limit us to names ending in ‘a’? What do you guys think, would you continue with the same trend? It would still have to be a pretty girly name…maybe something like [name]Madeleine[/name] or [name]Roberta[/name] oh wait I’m back on ‘those’ names again! I just can’t help it! Also liking [name]Jemima[/name] at the moment
