I’m thinking of using [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as a name, but I’m afraid it sounds a bit too much like a nn, since I’ve only met Tessa’s irl. And for the life of me, I can’t seem to come up with any longer names that could have the nickname [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. Any thoughts and ideas? [name_m]Or[/name_m] do y’all think [name_f]Tess[/name_f] could stand nicely on its own? TIA!
I think [name_f]Tess[/name_f] totally works on its own!
Otherwise maybe…
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] / [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] / [name_f]Therese[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Tesni[/name_f]
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]
[name_f]Tasmin[/name_f]
[name_f]Thomasin[/name_f]
[name_f]Tesora[/name_f]
[name_f]Tempest[/name_f]
[name_m]Tennessee[/name_m]
[name_f]Tersa[/name_f]
[name_m]Taliesin[/name_m]
[name_f]Tuesday[/name_f]
I’m definitely more of a [name_f]Tess[/name_f] than a [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] fan, I am totally in favour of [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as a full name.
If you do find a longer name you love though, that’s the best of both worlds.
[name_f]Quintessa[/name_f], [name_f]Contessa[/name_f], [name_f]Tressa[/name_f], Tensly?
Some stretchier ideas, but I can see most working well;
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]
[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]
Talesia
[name_m]Tallis[/name_m]
[name_f]Hester[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
I came back to add [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. If [name_f]Buffy[/name_f] and [name_f]Busy[/name_f] can come from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], I don’t see why [name_f]Tess[/name_f] can’t!
I am not a huge fan of nicknames as given names, but I think [name_f]Tess[/name_f] definitely stands on her own, and I have just [name_f]Tess[/name_f] on my list! I love her a ton. I do like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] too, but [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] in itself is a nn for Theresa/Teresa, too, so it didn’t make a ton of sense for me to use a nn and give that nn another nn lol.
Other full names for [name_f]Tess[/name_f] I would consider:
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Tesni[/name_f]
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_m]Or[/name_m] even something like a T name + an Es name - like [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f]? I like @eagleeyes suggestions of [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], [name_f]Tempest[/name_f], and [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f], too!
I think [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is excellent on its own!
The only long-form name I would use for [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], but I think I prefer [name_f]Tess[/name_f].
[name_f]Tess[/name_f] works as a stand alone to me! It feels substantial and well-established! I think you’ve got so many brilliant suggestions already but I’ll throw in:
[name_f]Tessan[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_m]Tennyson[/name_m]
Tessiana
Teska
Tesnim
Tessibel
[name_f]Astraea[/name_f]
Some of these might be stretchy though
I know a just [name_f]Tess[/name_f]! It totally works as a full name.
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f], [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f], Artemis/Artemisia, [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f].
[name_f]Tess[/name_f] is such a joyful, reliable and pretty name! I think it can standalone but just to add:
[name_f]Celestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] with S middle
Maybe a double like: Tessa-Rose or Tessa-Clare
The top three names I like best from those suggested above:
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (S spelling)
[name_f]Therese[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]
I also like:
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Contessa[/name_f] in theory but I think of [name_m]Dracula[/name_m] and vampires for some silly reason, and don’t love the flow on the name in [name_f]English[/name_f].
But I would only use a long name if you really like it. [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is more than capable of sitting in top spot.
I personally don’t at all like to use nickname-y names, so I would not use [name_f]Tess[/name_f] or [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] on their own! I do like Tess/Tessie as a nickname for [name_f]Therese[/name_f] or [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]! [name_f]Esther[/name_f] could also work since there’s a t in the middle.
You could also do something like:
Talia/Trinity [name_f]Esther[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tess[/name_f]
I believe [name_f]Tess[/name_f] can definitely stand on its own!
Suggestions:
[name_f]Teresia[/name_f]
Tesna
Tesley
[name_f]Tessia[/name_f]
[name_f]Thalassa[/name_f]
[name_f]Themis[/name_f]
Tristessa
I prefer [name_f]Tess[/name_f] over [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and would use [name_f]Tess[/name_f] straight up. It easily stands in its own.
I’ve met three people named [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as a standalone name (full disclosure one of them is my daughter
) and none of them report disliking their name or wishing it was longer! It’s a great opportunity to use a fancy middle name too.
Out of the full-name options, my favorite is the classic [name_f]Theresa[/name_f], then [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f], [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] or [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f].
