I figured I’d do a take on the “If you like [this name], you’ll love” lists, but rather with a combo. I’ve been struggling to come up with a combo that I love for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], but I seem to be stuck. The one combo I’ve found that really meets a lot of my criteria–has international roots, timeless and girly, but still gives classic [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] a kick in the pants, short-and-sweet, a little spunky, a little frilly. And a family name to boot. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
My only problem is that while I love [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] (and would love to use it somewhere), I just feel rather ambivalent about [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], whereas I love the other combos on my list. So here’s your challenge, Berries: If you like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], you’ll [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]…
Hm, and I’m not sure about the repeating beginning sounds of [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I do think [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] is spunky and love the suggestions of [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f].
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are so fun to pair with! I’m not so good at meeting all the criteria but hopefully something catches your eye
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] actually isn’t a requirement, haha–as far as family names with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] go, I much prefer [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Claire[/name_f], or maybe even [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], but I just liked [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] best from the family options. Alliteration is fairly common in my family (although it’s generally with "R"s!), so I sort of like the subtle theme, even though [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] have two different initials–they still sound alliterative).
@jem - I think I liked your suggestion of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] the best. I do like [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] a lot, and I’m not sure I like this place for her best, but she does sort of symbolize what I feel like I’m going for here.
@grackym - I’m not a huge fan of the [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] spelling, but I had actually been tossing around [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Zuzanna[/name_f] as a possibility, maybe. I like that the "Z"s spunk up [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], and I love Polish names, haha. I had also thought about [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Zoja, but rejected it, since I already have [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Zora[/name_f] on my list.
Some of the suggestions were really nice, but I’ve already got them on my list in another spot, and don’t really want to repeat ([name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f]). I have been missing [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] lately–she used to be a huge favorite!–but I’m not sure I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]? I like it, but I’m not sure I love it. I’ll let it ruminate and see if it sticks.
