If we have a baby girl...

I posted in the siblings forum yesterday but got no reply, so I thought I’d try here instead as it seems pretty active!! My husband ([name_m]Adrian[/name_m]) and I have a 3 year old, [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and we’re due with our second in [name_f]July[/name_f], so we have plenty of time but we don’t want to leave it till the last minute and end up struggling!!

We find girl names a lot harder so we’ll probably need more help with the girl name than the boy name as I’m sure we’ll have the boy name sorted pretty quick. Anyway, we like:

[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]

What do you think of these? Which is your favourite with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]? Also, we would love to hear any suggestions that you have for us!!

thank you!!! xx

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - I think this goes well with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] although I prefer [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] - This is just too popular for me
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] - This is my new nieces name and I for some reason it seems like a mouthful to say. I want to call her [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] but her mom doesn’t.
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] - Other too popular name for me
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] - I like this one since it is different but it doesn’t seem to go well with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] - [name_m]Even[/name_m] though this is one of the top 5 names I still think it is pretty
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] - not a fan
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] - I think this looks pretty but I never know how to say it. I think the nickname [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is cute!

Suggestions:

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]/[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]

Congratulations on baby #2!

From you list I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] (our oldest daughter is named [name_f]Klara[/name_f], too, so I obviously adore this name), [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] (very pretty and feminine, was one of my middle name favorites for our newborn daughter), [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (although I prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]!!), [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] (all beautiful names but awfully popular these days).

I’d suggest:
[name_f]Alba[/name_f] (I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] that name, the only reason we didn’t use it was because we felt like it doesn’t go that well with the siblings names)

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (such a beautiful and timeless name!)

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (maybe as a middle name!?)

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (I think this one goes very well with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]!)

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] (pretty but quite popular)

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] (one of my favorites)

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] (the first name of our newborn daughter … I just love it so much!)

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] (also among my favorites)

[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] (name of my niece, lovely feminine name!)

Thanks to you both!

cengel73, I love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]!!! [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] & [name_f]Lola[/name_f] are sweet too but [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] definitely doesn’t work with our surname (It starts with Mc- & [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] sounds really sing-songy with it!) and we know a little [name_f]Lola[/name_f] already so we can’t use it.

carlavictoria, thank you! I love your childrens names, they’re all gorgeous! I like the suggestions of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_f]Stella[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f] too as it’s actually a family name but I feel it’s a little rhymey with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], but I do like it a lot. We might consider it as a middle name instead

Congrats! My favorites from your lists are [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], and [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. I like them best with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] too. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is also a great idea. some more ideas

[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] - much less popular than [name_f]Ava[/name_f], if that matters to you.
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]

Thanks! I really love Adeline! My husband is a huge Addison fan so he’ll probably like it too! I also like Eva, Sadie, Ivy Annabel & Maeve.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] Yes this is lovely
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] Too popular
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] This is a favoyrite of mine and i think its fine with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] Not liking so much but also popular
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] No its getting very popular but I thinka its too much
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] -delightful and with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] - okay it trended for a while but i have known the nale all my life and it ages well !
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] _ Oh! yes i love this /Am-al- ee/ or / Am eh lee/ depending how [name_m]French[/name_m] you want it, I have heard both- hardly any difference.

Congratulations on your second baby!

Of your list, I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] are lovely. Their rhythm goes well with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].

I also agree with the above comments that [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] would be a great choice. I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] could fit well too, though [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] might be too matchy with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].

[name_f]Clara[/name_f]- I have to be truthful, I instead thought of [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and [name_m]Clark[/name_m] when I saw this. I thought it was a play on words. So I’d suggest no.
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]- Eh it’s not my favorite together.
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]- This is cute with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]- Not a huge fan with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]- see [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]- See [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]- I like this with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] too.
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]- I love this with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]

I like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].
Not the others, they’re more modern and with the good old-fashioned of [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], it seems out of place.

I like [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] from your list.

Suggestions:
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_u]Clove[/name_u]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeva[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]

Congratulations, @kate_mc!

Excited for you!

My top recommendation is a sibset comprised of “core classic” and “biblical classic” pairings:

[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] {and}

{g} [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

{b} [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] / [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] / [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] the very most of all your names…With [name_f]Aria[/name_f] close behind…in fact they sound wonderful together!! ([name_f]IMO[/name_f] :)) Of course [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] are beautiful and classic…but very very popular right now, if that matters to you. Although I don’t think [name_f]Aria[/name_f] sounds nice with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] sounds perfect, as does [name_f]Clara[/name_f], another beautiful option, although I prefer [name_f]Claire[/name_f], I think.

Suggestions with the same -belle ending that aren’t quite as popular.

[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Christabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabella[/name_f]
And recently I seen [name_f]SaBelle[/name_f]. Though I think the spelling is a bit pretentious, but it does have a fresher sound than [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] to my ears, I think.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] I helped, good luck!!

Congrats on #2!

I agree that [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] sound great with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. I hadn’t thought about the [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and [name_m]Clark[/name_m] connection with [name_f]Clara[/name_f]—but my sister [name_f]Claire[/name_f] was named to honor a grandfather [name_m]Clark[/name_m], so now I can’t "un-think” it.

Some suggestions:
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] / [name_f]Leona[/name_f] / [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] / [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] / [name_f]Lenora[/name_f]

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_f]Rhea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] (this would be my pick)
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] or [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]?

or [name_f]Claudia[/name_f], [name_u]Dominique[/name_u], or [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]

I adore [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (although, I’d prefer [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f])

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] all of these names! They’re definitely my style, and I think their great choices.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f]: I love [name_u]Clare[/name_u] as a middle name & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] as a first name. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] reminds me of the character from the Nutcracker, and it’s lovely!
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]: It’s beautiful, and I think it matures well.
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]: It’s really cute, and I love the nickname [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]. I prefer the spelling [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], though.
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]: It’s very mature and timeless!
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]: It stands out, and it’s one of my top five!
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]: It’s very popular, but I love it because its the name of my favorite writers & poets ([name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_m]Dickinson[/name_m], etc.)
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]: Beautiful, and I love the nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f].
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]: It’s very simple and unique; however, it’s my least favorite of the list.

With [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], I’d probably choose [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. I think they would all work well, though!

Wow thank you for so many replies!! My Hubby says he likes both [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], so we’re adding those to the list

Thanks for all of the comments on our list, they’re all extremely helpful! I’ve had a read through and all of the suggestions are fantastic & I really like: [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]. I do like [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] too but I’m not sure about it with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], and we also know a few [name_f]Lily[/name_f]'s which is sad because I love both [name_f]Lily[/name_f] & [name_f]Lillian[/name_f].

My kids are young adults now, and they had many many friends and classmates with the E names or names that sounded similar ([name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] etc.), as well as the [name_u]Madison[/name_u]/[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Maddy[/name_f] group. I wonder if these types of names will start to sound a little dated? I’d go with something that is also on the upswing like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. I wouldn’t worry too much about matching styles, though. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is nice, as are [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Kaya[/name_f], [name_f]Liora[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], or [name_f]Helena[/name_f]?
