If You Had to Change Your Name Today?

I would choose [name_f]Geneva[/name_f] today. I’ve long loved it for its freshness, a kind of alpine vitality. [name_f]Geneva[/name_f] sounds like someone who would travel and have adventures.

My nickname would be [name_f]Neva[/name_f].

You?

I would purposefully pick a name that would stick with my age and what were common names during my generation. I’d love to be something like [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]. Simple, timeless, and relevant to when I was born.

[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] or [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f].

I’d be [name_f]Anya[/name_f]. I’m not entirely sure just why, but whenever I’ve been asked to think about going by another name, it’s always been [name_f]Anya[/name_f].

I feel like [name_f]Fern[/name_f] would be good for me if I had to change my name today.

I love [name_f]Fern[/name_f] @mauvebird.

If I was to change my name today, I’d choose [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. Simple, single-syllable, classic.

These are all good choices.

I do think it’s a good question to ask ourselves as we contemplate naming our own daughters. There are a number of names I am wild over that I would HATE to be named myself!

Today’s choice for me is [name_f]Demelza[/name_f]. It is a rollicking and old-fashioned name which sounds both womanly and zesty.

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. Probably. I also like the idea of [name_f]Grace[/name_f], or [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. They’re all rather timeless, but less dated to one generation (and less unisex!) than my own name. I go by [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] about half the time at work, anyway, so I think I could transition to [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] pretty well. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is my grandma’s middle name, and I always wished my parents had honored her with my name, so I’d love to be [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. One of my old bosses used to call me [name_u]Ash[/name_u]-a-leena, so I think I could transition into [name_f]Lena[/name_f] pretty well, too, and I think it suits me (or maybe [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] “[name_f]Lena[/name_f]”?). I like others, but those are the top candidates.

I have changed my name! This is very recent and went from [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] to [name_f]Francine[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. I’m very happy!

Oh, I kept my initials.

Maybe [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]. It’s not my style in the slightest, and very 80’s, but I feel a connection to it, and it’s the one name that people consistently tell me I look like.

If not [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], then probably [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Rose[/name_f]) or [name_u]Joan[/name_u].

But actually, I really love my name!

I’d legally change my name to [name_u]Shay[/name_u]. It’s a nickname I had way back when that I want to bring back. Not too fancy or nameberry-esque, but I feel like it fits me.

I know a lovely cat named [name_m]Shai[/name_m] so now I like the name! It has a nice soft sound and I like [name_u]Shaw[/name_u] too.

Today, I would change my name to [name_f]Fenella[/name_f]. Fresh and refreshing sounding, an outdoorsy name yet sophisticated. Plus I love [name_f]Fenna[/name_f] and [name_f]Nella[/name_f] as nicknames, even [name_f]Nell[/name_f].

Today, I’d change my name from [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] to [name_u]Mika[/name_u]. It’s a name I’ve loved for a while now and I’d still have a name starting with the letter M, which I quite like.

While I think that my band fits me well if I were to change it today I would pick [name_f]Nora[/name_f].

I actually think I’d like to have a unisex name. [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] would be my choice today.

[name_f]Moon[/name_f]-y names suit me the most (or at least it seems/feels that way), so I’ll simply change [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] to [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. I already go by [name_f]Luna[/name_f] a lot so the transition wouldn’t be too hard.

I like being [name_f]Valeria[/name_f] but from my favorite names I think I could pull off [name_f]Naiara[/name_f], [name_f]Livia[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f].

I think I’d be [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] today! I love the ties to nature and the feeling of hopefulness (with the meaning, “new dawn”), and I think I could wear it pretty well! I wouldn’t go by the unisex [name_u]Rory[/name_u], but I can see me being a [name_f]Rora[/name_f] pretty well.

[name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_f]Annika[/name_f], or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] ( [name_f]Ginny[/name_f].)
