Ila

So in love with this name pronounced Ee-la but everyone is going to say eye-la. I don’t know what to do?

It seems incomplete to me. I thought your post going to ask for names ending in ila. But I think you’re right, ppl are going to mispronounce it. I think you’re better off with [name_f]Mila[/name_f] or [name_f]Camila[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Ila[/name_f]?), or one of the eye-lah names: [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_f]Eila[/name_f] – all of which have their own pronunciation issues of course, but at least they’re more familiar than [name_f]Ila[/name_f].

The sounds are very pretty but I think there may be pronunciation issues.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] & [name_f]Caela[/name_f].

[name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_u]Akiva[/name_u], [name_f]Riva[/name_f], [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] etc have the ‘ee’ sound but not the ‘la’.

What about [name_f]Aleela[/name_f], [name_f]Akeelah[/name_f], [name_f]Leelah[/name_f]?

Or [name_u]Keely[/name_u]?

I do think there will be pronunciation issues, I read it Eye-lah. It is pretty though. I liked the others suggestions of using it as a nickname. That is a very possible way to get around the issues. If you say this is [name_f]Mila[/name_f], We call her [name_f]Ila[/name_f]. People will be able to jump to the nickname really quick.

I think a lot of people use [name_f]Ila[/name_f] as a form of [name_f]Isla[/name_f] because they think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] will be pronounced iz-la. So yeah, I think there will be a lot of pronunciation issues.

Have you considered [name_f]Mila[/name_f]?

I like [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. I did find a Celtic name Eala that is pronounce ee-la as well. What do you think of this spelling?

Oh yes, Eala looks more complete & the pronunciation is more straight forward
