as you can see from the title, I consider myself a little bit hippy, little bit rock n roll… and would like my future childs name to reflect that. I dont want anything too hippy/“out there” (such as moon unit, poppy, sunshine, etc…) but I do love [name]River[/name], [name]Summer[/name], [name]Rain[/name], etc… I also like names with a little rock flare, such as [name]Nash[/name], Halen, [name]Landen[/name], [name]Asher[/name], etc… I dont know if these names really SCREAM rock n roll but they kinda fit that in my mind… anyway, I was wondering if you guys could help me come up with some names that fit the title of my post… Are there an names that fit both categories? As for my personality, I consider myself a modern day hippy, very much enviromentally friendly, love nature, etc… I guess I dress “hippie-chic” as they call it… but Im also huge music lover.
I dont know if any of this makes sense, buit if you just go by the title and feel like throwing some names my way I would b very, very happy! Thank You!
The first things that comes to mind are [name]Ripley[/name] and [name]Ramsey[/name]! You sound a lot like my best friend and those are the names she plans to use if she has two more girls. Of the names you mentioned, I really love [name]River[/name], [name]Summer[/name] and [name]Nash[/name]. I can’t give you a full list right now but I’m going to think it over, what a fun topic!
Oh, I love [name]Ramsey[/name]!! So cute. I like [name]Ripley[/name] too, but I know my bf wont go for it cuz hes a huge Ripleys believe it or not fan and he’ll think the name is corny haha.
I too consider myself a “modern day hippy”. My current “hipster” favorites are [name]Piper[/name] and [name]Lennon[/name]. They aren’t on my personal list because I prefer vintage/old lady chic names with a spunky nn ([name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Wilhelmina[/name] nn [name]Willa[/name]) but I adore them. [name]Hendrix[/name] pretty cool too
Reviving this thread. As I previously posted, DH recently nixed my favorite baby boy name - [name]River[/name]. Now that I search it on the forums, it looks like I wasn’t being as unique as I thought… Someone met 3 [name]Rivers[/name] in one week? Dear God!
Our son’s name is [name]Gustav[/name] “[name]Ryder[/name].” We are looking for something as rockstar as [name]Ryder[/name] but without the R starting sound or “er” ending sound.
I am unsure about [name]Tuck[/name] and [name]Huck[/name]. I don’t think they would really grow with child that well, not to mention the teasing potential. [name]Thatch[/name] and Digg really don’t come across as names to me, [name]Thatcher[/name] or Diggory would be better. I don’t think [name]Ryder[/name] and [name]Dash[/name] are a great match because they both convey movement… It could be cute, though. The first thing that comes to mind is [name]Nash[/name]. I think that would be perfect with [name]Ryder[/name].
I agree with pp that since [name]Gustave[/name] has a formal name, it seems new baby should have one too. As wonderful as [name]Huck[/name] and [name]Tuck[/name] sound, they don’t give any possibility of a more formal name. Here are some thoughts
[name]Crosby[/name]
[name]Arlo[/name] (ok, not really rockstar, but definitely a bit hippy, [name]Arlo[/name] Guthriesque)
[name]Cannon[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Jarvis[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
I like your taste! (Although I don’t agree “[name]Poppy[/name]” is way out there!) [name]Summer[/name] and [name]Nash[/name] are lovely.
With so many great suggestions on the thread, it will hard not to repeat.

I’m not sure if Aero is a name, but I think it would makee a great name. To me it is spelled like a hippie and is all rock n roll with it’s connection to aero smith.
I’m better with rock so here’s my try. Sorry for any repeats:
[name]Cooper[/name]
[name]Hendrix[/name] (He has a hippy vibe haha)
Mic/[name]Mick[/name]
[name]Jagger[/name]
[name]Elton[/name]
[name]Axel[/name]
[name]Jovi[/name]
[name]Creed[/name] (though I think of the Office)
[name]Morrison[/name]
Kravitz
Motley
[name]Crew[/name]
[name]Tommy[/name]
[name]Lee[/name] (haha Not that I’m a huge fan of that band. It just has naming potential)
[name]Ozzy[/name]… I’m sure [name]Oscar[/name] or [name]Oswald[/name] can be a longer form if you prefer.
[name]Joan[/name] (for a girl)
[name]Jett[/name]
I love [name]Nash[/name]! What about [name]Joplin[/name] or [name]Lennon[/name]? I would stay away from names like [name]River[/name], [name]Rain[/name], etc., and try to find nature names like [name]Willow[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Sage[/name], etc. Good luck!
